Dating and Availability: A Rant

Not sure what I am looking for I just think I needed to scream into the void

I am happy with my life, have a good job, good friends, and would love someone to share it with. But it feels like every dating experience they can't communicate, aren't emotionally available, or still have feelings or complications with their ex

No matter how great, healthy or healed they seem, every one seems to break down because they aren't ready, can't commit, or go hot and cold with intensity and I am left feeling confused by the switch because there was no communication

The frustrating thing is I try to hard to heal and work on myself, I've been through therapy and can communicate. I almost wish they were telling me its because I keep doing x, at least then I could change something I was doing wrong

I know I am young (early 30s) and there's so much time but its making me lose trust in people because it feels like everytime I open myself up I get hurt

Edit to clarify: by healed I am no way insinuating we are ever healed, i meant healed from past relationships in the sense of ready to start something new without hanging on to the past in a way that's unhealthy

Whiskey's Food Bowl

Hamster bowl for mental stimulation

Whiskey has early follicular stasis signs so struggles to eat enough despite a good appetite, so I got her a clear hamster bowl to leave a few worms to supplement her locust

It turns out the bowl works as a gecko treat puzzle, this isnt the first time shes eaten from it

I know worms arent good but she can only stomach one maybe two locust at a time with a couple hour break in between so this ensures she can eat enough

PSA: Do not skip your annual vet visit

Today I spent $133 on an annual general health checkup for my 1-year old girl despite no specific health issues or concerns. She was eating a little less but otherwise totally normal and healthy

I was umming and erring on if it was really necessary as that is a lot of money for me right now. But giving her that check-up today allowed the vet to catch a possible future health concern developing before it is an issue that I absolutely would have never caught myself and has saved her stress and me money. When chatting to him about this apparently it is really common for something like this to not be noticed until much later and cause serious issues

TLDR: Geckos hide things well, do not skip out on regular health checkups

Edit: For those wondering, she has early warning signs of follicular stasis with 11-13mm follicles identified through an ultrasound. She has had no obvious symptoms, pooping as normal, very active but more energetic if anything, only thing I noticed is she eats little and often rather than big meals. She would eat a silkworm but then not want a second unless you offer it over an hour later. I just thought it was breeding season stuff, but the vet said it is probably because she is uncomfortable

Can we normalise using NSFW for injuries?

Update: Thank you mods for replying - this is a rule in this sub. For it to be enforced we need to be reporting posts if/ when they come up.

I love this sub, its such a good place for gecko advice, seeing cute photos and general discussion.

But, I recently noticed so many people posting for vet/injury advice with injured gecko photos attached. Its great people are asking and getting advice/support, but can we normalise putting NSFW filters on these photos?

It can be so upsetting opening reddit to just images of injured geckos with sometimes open wounds etc. Putting a NSFW filter at least gives people the option to view or not. It genuinely makes me want to leave some days

I appreciate I am asking into the void, but would love to know others thoughts and maybe consideration from mods. Gecko tax attached

I finally think I have finished her new viv set-up now that she is in a 120gallon. Wanted to share with the community - happy to take suggestions too of how to improve.

Hard to see but on the left there are a load of bark pieces which are carefully stacked to create little passage ways for her which she loves to use. Humid hide is centre back. Substrate is soil/sand/pro rep repti sand
