So it finally happened.....

YouTube FINALLY did away with the downvote button. I knew it was coming and it's a horrible thing. I really think we should be allowed to indicate when we don't like a video. It's the beginning of the end for me and my fondness for YouTube.

My new absolute favorite

I am typically NOT a fan of beef that has been frozen or refridgerated because often it is tough. So, I always "tread with caution" with these products. I was very pleasantly surprised and the meat was mostly tender, the gravy was a tad salty, but not overly so. I put it over cauliflower and that was good. I will be trying the rest of it over a baked potato. I would definitely buy this again.

Frustrated, but not about my dog.....

I'm not asking for advice. I just need to vent to people that likely feel as I do. Here's the link, if interested (since I got the okay from the MOD) https://www.cbs58.com/news/ridglan-farms-rescue-omelette-suddenly-passes-in-alligator-attack

As many of you following the Ridglan Farms beagles that have been rescued SO FAR (yes, I know there's more still there, but this vent is not specifically about them) well meaning adopters are coming out of the woodworks to adopt these dogs without knowing ANYTHING about the breed itself and knowing if they can handle a "normal" beagle and they don't think about this breed also being traumatized. I ask about this because of the dog, Omelette, who's life after the lab ended much sooner than it should have because of, IMHO, careless adopters that didn't know what the F they were doing and should have.

I have spoken in this community about my current beagle boy, Henry. He didn't come from a lab but he was neglected all his life before me and my husband adopted him. Henry has been with us 2 years and he is a completely different dog than when we brought him home. We STILL make sure to supervise him in our fenced in backyard and we do NOT live in Florida. But where we do live there are coyotes that could take off with him. I know, not the same as alligators, but you understand why I mention this. I understand that the rescues that are taking in these dogs are likely overwhelmed and doing their best, BUT.....IMHO if they can't do the right thing and confirm that the people adopting or fostering these dogs know what they're doing, then the dogs need to stay at the rescue with the people that DO know what their doing.

PSA for home owners.....

I'm not sure how all of you feel about this, but I don't like high pressure pushy door-to-door salesman (this person is from Hawx pest control). I'm not mean, but I probably need to get a couple of signs that say "Solicitors not welcome."

I had a young guy stop me from walking my dog when I stepped out the front door of my house. He was very pushy and when I said that I discuss major financial decisions with my husband, he asked if my husband makes all the decisions. This guy is likely in his early 20's. There were a lot of things I wanted to say to him, but I lied and said my husband drives a truck for work and has odd hours. When the salesman asked for the name of the company, I said "I don't give out that information". There were a lot of other things said, but you get the gist.

So, I don't know how all of you feel, but I just want you to be aware that this guy (he came up my driveway in a motorized scooter and asked if I wanted to try to ride it. I said no. Then he started his sales pitch) is insistent and annoying.

Fremont Shrimp Scampi.....just like in a good restaurant

Got one on a whim and it is SO freakin' fantastic, IMHO, that I want to go to the store TONIGHT and buy out their stock.. Won't happen, but I'm SO tempted. It's not as garlicky as I would like, but the flavor is there and the butter is insane and there are SO many shrimp. I put it over angel hair pasta (not included).

I would like to have a nice, civil, NON-POLITICAL discussion about the adoptions that are going to happen because of Ridglan Farm beagles being sold to rescues all over the USA. I don't profess to be an expert on the breed and I sure as heck am not an expert on traumatized dogs. I am owned by my 2nd beagle and he came from a neglectful owner. So, he does have some trauma that we work through every day and have been for 2 years since we adopted him as an 8+ year old.

I would like to know other people's opinions on whether the rescues that are getting these dogs, and have gotten traumatized beagles of various ages, need to be especially particular about who gets to adopt the dogs. I don't know all the rescues getting the dogs and I don't know if all those rescues themselves have experience with these types of traumatized dogs. I know that before adopting our Henry, I had no CLUE how everyday things (walks on our residential street, meeting our neighbors and other people, typical household sounds like soda cans opening, etc) could cause a dog anxiety. Our Henry is terrified of thunderstorms and heavy rain. That's likely because he was kept outdoors 24/7 his whole life.

Now that Henry lives indoors and it's been 2 years, he's slightly more relaxed with his anxiety, but he will never be over it completely. Had I known that he had these anxieties, I would have asked for help to work through it with him. But we (my husband and I) are learning as we go. I really don't recommend that for those that have no experience with these anxieties. Would we have not adopted Henry? Not on your life. We love him and we would have done things much differently from the beginning. I just don't want to hear from these people with either NO experience with traumatized dogs OR traumatized beagles say "we can't do this, we're bring the dog back to the rescue." or something like that.

Because that WILL happen and I will be very angry.
