It occurred to me that nowadays, many creators have fans and followers, and it's relative easy to learn biographical details and get a window into the life of authors and other creatives. I'm curious how much those sorts of biographical tidbits would be common knowledge for a fan in Dickens' day, and how difficult (or easy) it would be to uncover that sort of the information at the time.
This is from an interview Russo did with WCW Live during his tenure as "Creative Director" for WCW, as reported in Guy Evans' (excellent) book -- 'NITRO: The Incredible Rise and Inevitable Collapse of Ted Turner's WCW.'
The full quote from the book is: "On August 16th, Russo proclaimed that regardless of WCW’s fortunes, he was quitting wrestling at the end of his contract - October 2001. '10 months in this company has been [like] 10 years to me - it really has,' he told WCW Live. 'It has literally taken years off my life. But I would never quit…I would never stop chasing that dream...that vision. I’ve got less than 14 months left on my contract and when those 14 months are finished, I will be as far away from this business as I can possibly get for the rest of my life. And that is a promise.'”
"When asked if there existed any scenario to change his mind - namely, the possibility that Nitro would someday topple Raw - Russo clarified his thoughts directly. 'I am absolutely ruling out that I will stay with WCW, and I am absolutely positively ruling out that I would ever go back to the WWF. I am done…as a matter of fact, it’s 60 weeks from today. So if you had me on every week, I could be on 60 more times. Look at it that way.”
