7 year old getting tough time with new team.

My sons been doing trials for an academy in Scotland. He’s played against these kids before and now one of these kids dad is now helps out with the team ( he’s a story in his own.. ) anyway some kids the past 2 weeks have been giving my son abit of a hard time. They kick his ball away, laugh if he doesn’t understand a drill etc. my son still wants to continue. Something like this happened before and I just didn’t let my son return until someone told me it’s not good to run from everything etc which I agree to a certain extent. My sons so good for his age as are some others In this team but it’s the kids worse actually giving him shit. Then when it comes to matches in training my son hides away. Today he went to another training thing, one of these boys were here and also a kid from his old team. The kid from his old team started pushing my son 3 times like the type of push before a fight, my son was scared. Then the kid who’s team he’s trialing for now shoulder barged him ( I know level ) 3-4 times to be fair my son went back at him but then in the match he hid. It’s a reoccurring thing once my son sees or notices other kids being loud and dominate he will hide in games. I don’t want to stop going since my son wants to but I’m scared he’s doing it for me, I also don’t want to run because it looks like they’ve won.

Trial set up for my son

My sons really unhappy at an academy we are at in Scotland. Been there 6 months and started a trial at a new academy. I noticed on second session coaches split the squad in 3. My son and a kid from his team ( that use to be at this academy is trialing too ) were put in different groups but with players from this new academy. Rest of trialist all with each other. Found out today the kid that use to be in this academy played a game for this new ( his old ) academy. Is this a bad sign for my son? Both have only done two days. I’ve a feeling the other kid was accepted right away because he use to be there. is it because they basically know the player already? And why split him and my son from the rest of the kids trialing?

What do you do about trials while at a team?

My son has been going to trial for another academy however we’ve not told the club he’s currently at. We said we won’t be there this week but I’m unsure about what we will say for the next two weeks. I don’t want to mention the trial incase it doesn’t go well then we’ve no club.

7 year old hypermobility?

My son just turned 7 last week. He’s a very talented footballer ( soccer ). It breaks my heart at times when I see how much he struggles keeping up. He’s actually at a top academy and coaches approached us after his trial stating he’s technically better than the full squad but on the slow side. My son really struggles with running. His body seems to collapse and he runs as if he’s drunk. No speed. I have seen glimpses of good form and somewhat speed but mainly he runs like he’s drunk or runs upright with tense body like tin man. He saw an OT who discharged after one session and referred to physio. The OT did mention hypermobility but we aren’t sure yet. He’s dreading sports day in school and I think people have started teasing him about his speed. In football he’s very good. He knows how to beat people with speed but when he needs to run he just can’t get going. He’s very athletic looking for a 7 year old. Has anyone here had problems running?

How was your dyspraxia as a child?

My son is 7 years old, just turned 7. Recently we saw an OT who done some physical tests then discharged my son. She’s referred him to a PT now. My son loves soccer and we’ve been told how technically gifted he is, however he struggles with a lot of things such as running , he runs leaning to one side slightly and very slow, before the running was more him really leaning forward a lot almost falling then it went to a kind of tin man run still slow now like a hobble run, he struggles with bear crawls and star jumps can’t coordinate/sync his body when doing these excercises and also he can’t skip he seems to try and skip on his heels. I’m worried it’s starting to effect him mentally as he loved football but I see him take a step away now, also sports day in school I can tell he’s so nervous as he told me he can’t do the jumping race.

So my son is turning 7 next week, when he was a baby I have videos and remember when handing him food he’d bend his body forward from sitting instead of using his hands and arms, when in a swing his arms would just sit there like floppy, we were told he had a weak core, he always struggled with tummy time, at 10 months when sitting he’d tip over. He was discharged from physio around age 1.5, he learned to ride a bike without stabilisers at 3 years old, hes always been very talented in football also. He’s more sturdy now but not long ago if he was pushed he would fall worse than most kids his age, he was like floppy. He’d struggle with hand writing ( sorry for the random things just trying to think of everything ). When he runs he is very slow, around 6-8 months ago when in football he’d overly lean almost bent over running, I’ve tried to help by getting him to stay up tall or try to. Now he does stay up tall but he’s still slow, and I dont care that he isn’t fast but I can tell something he’s doing isn’t working, he now runs with full effort but looks like he’s wear a knights armour. That’s only way I can describe it, his heads tucked into his shoulders. I’ve saw him run normal sometimes but when he’s asked to run like in football or chasing the ball he goes back to this default running. He struggles with bear crawls when asked to do them but can do the sometimes naturally from what I have saw. Another thing is that as mentioned he’s always been talented in football. We were told he should be in the top team and that technically he’s above the top team at his football team but they’re afraid he cannot keep up with the speed. Another kid in school has teased him calling him slow which hurt me and I’m sure hurt my son. I really want to try to help and have been but I am scared of making it worse for him. He has fast feet as in can go on toes and rapidly move his feet so I know or think his legs etc aren’t an issue. He has a football net with 6 targets and can tell me which hole he’s going for and get it ( unsure if this will help with advice just trying to say what he can and struggles with ) he can dress and undress himself however I notice he’ll have to hold onto something sometimes for balance. He can do planks, balance in each leg for 30 seconds although struggled with one side before working on this at home, he can’t really skip. Feel free to ask me any questions. Thanks
