Hey guys, as you can see I didn't give up on the project, I just restarted it.

I wanted to fix my old styles.

New styles I made:

* September 2007

* November 2006

For anyone who missed it, yes, Now Playing is finally added (still in BETA).

Sadly, November 2006 doesn't seem to work on Windows XP, so I'll have to fix that too.

Sep2007 works super well and I'm adding Promoted Videos right now.

As you can see, the list view and grid view are fully working now.

The project will have full months, except for 2005 where a few months are missing (like April) because we don't really know how it looked back then.

Yes, I'm doing the whole 2000s YouTube.

The project might come out in December or early 2027.

Because guys, it's really not easy.

On the bright side, my birthday is coming up soon (October 8th), so happy birthday to me! I'm buying myself a Nintendo 64 because I speedrun SM64.

Anyway, I just made this post to show you guys that the project is alive.

​I just recreated the 2007 videos page! Both the mid-2007 and late-2007 versions.

​I also set it up so that when there are MP4 videos being watched right now in the assets folder, it checks the video ID, name, and timestamp to make it more accurate. Same thing for the videos page.

​I wanted to include the videos you guys sent me, but there weren't many, so I made it so that whenever you watch a video, it gets added to the videos page.

​Now, I need you guys to tell me something: on the homepage, there are going to be "Featured Videos" and "Promoted Videos," but I don't know what to do with them.

I don't like just dumping random videos there because I want the site to feel alive. So, give me some ideas on how I should make "Promoted Videos" and "Featured Videos" work on the homepage!

This is active_sharing.swf, which is the classic "videos being watched right now" feature. Here is how it works.
On the backend, once you finish the tutorial, you will see the classic videos that used to pop up on active_sharing.swf.
If you copy the things that make them work and add a new one, you will get options for the video ID, title, and time.
Unfortunately, it won't work exactly like it did in 2007-2009, but it will work using the IDs you enter.
Basically, you can put any video you want.

The active_sharing.swf project will be uploaded to GitHub tomorrow.

Guys, as you know, unfortunately I lost all the styles, so I had to recreate everything from scratch.
But the crazy thing is that I made a massive upgrade.
Here are the features that will be included in the RetroTube MegaPack:

• Year-specific videos on the homepage
• Wayback-related features
• Wayback channel
• HTML5 player (just like the Wayback Machine)
• Videos Being Watched Right Now section

Once this pack is finished, I will upload a tutorial on how to add old videos to the homepage and how to set them up correctly.

There are still a few things I need to fix in the "Videos Being Watched Right Now" section, specifically the video-time counter and the intro animation.

I was working on yt2008 early and an error popped up. I kept clicking 'OK' but it wouldn't go away. So I decided to restart Chrome, and all my styles disappeared (STYLUS WTF!)

UPDATE:

​I finally managed to get the early 2008 YouTube look perfectly recreated (I'm using CSS over YT2009). I've been working on this for a bit, and here’s what I’ve got:

​Wayback Vibes: Videos like Username 666 and Male model look exactly like they did back in 2008.

​Real Wayback "Related Videos": I actually managed to replicate that old-school related videos system from the 2005-2011 era.

​Authentic Avatars: Channels are now sporting their original profile pictures from that year, too.

​Classic Thumbnails: I even got the thumbnails working in the related section—they’ve got that classic, slightly buggy 2008 feel to them (yes, Username 666 is included!).

​Just a heads-up that a few things might still be a little glitchy here and there.

​Why did I credit cindylol? Because I had to study his CSS techniques and how he managed to get everything working. And here it is!

​Anyway, huge W to cindylol, since he was the one who originally created this style. In case you're confused, I made it even more accurate and nostalgic.

A question: what would you put instead of broadcast yourself?

I tried to make the September 2005 version and it turned out well. Of course, there are some bugs, but I will fix them later. I'm also thinking about making the channel page. Not all pages will be working; some will display a RetroTube page saying 'WE ARE WORKING ON THIS...' If you want me to add any other styles to RetroTube MegaPack, let me know.
