How do you measure your social skills ?

Since it's is a skill, how do you measure it ? How do you know you're good at it ?

I was a pretty shy person when I was young and after some persistence I finally though that I was in a good place socially.

But I got a new job with a completely different person. They're completely different from me - they came from different part of the country, they travelled, they have their own houses, bought cars and bikes, got kids. In brief, they have more life experience.

Naturally I have a little trouble with integrating this group and I"m self-conscious around them. I'm not feeling hopeless with this anymore like I used to. My concern is that even if I manage to work through this particular group, I don't know when will I finally feel like I get it ? Am I actually good or did I tell stories about myself ? Will should I still work on it to improve and when it will be finally enough ?

Thanks !

How does leastconn wors ?

I have an HAProxy server that use leastconn to load balance between two server. Here's the config file:

frontend FrontEnd
    bind :80
    maxconn 2000
    mode http
    option httplog
    option dontlognull
    default_backend BackEnd

backend BackEnd
    balance leastconn
    server App1 IP1:8080 maxconn 3000 check inter 2000 rise 3 fall 3
    server App2 IP2:8080 maxconn 3000 check inter 2000 rise 3 fall 3

My problem: HAProxy send fewer connection to IP1 than IP2.

I want to know why so I read the leastconn documentation which said that:

> The server with the lowest number of connections receives the connection.

What does number of connections mean in that context ? I want to understand how HAProxy send traffic to the backend server.

Since HAProxy cannot directly know the capacity of each server to handle connection, I thought that "number of connections" may mean connection in TCP Established state. So I verified that hypothesis with:

$ ss -tn state established dst IP1:8080 | wc -l
17
$ ss -tn state established dst IP2:8080 | wc -l
81

It shows that established connections are fewer on IP1 but HAProxy thought that IP1 has more active connection so it won't send any new connection to it.

I run this command again a few moment later just to check if HAProxy will correct this but it still yield the same proportion.

When I log into the backend server IP1 and IP2, I get the same proportion.

  • On IP1:
ss -tn state established | grep 8080 | wc -l
19
  • On IP2:
ss -tn state established | grep 8080 | wc -l
38

Question: How does HAproxy count the number of active connection when using leastconn ?

Note:

  • The HAProxy server only runs HAProxy on it so ss doesn't show any other connection to IP1/IP2

Big monolith app using Wildfly

I'm managing a big and old monolith Wildfly app. I'm not doing development, I'm on the DevOps team.

It's using many subsystem: infinispan, jgroups, elytron, activemq-messaging, transactions, etc

Can anyone recommends some resource to learning more about these ?

All I found on google was technical docs like https://docs.wildfly.org/34/wildscribe/subsystem/jgroups/index.html

There's no tutorial, not beginner friendly things.

The Wildfly official doc (Subsystem configuration) is also very vague. It assume that we're already familiar with its concepts.

For example, I know what a transaction is but I don't know anything about the transaction subsystem.

  • Are subsystem transparent to dev team or does they need additional library on using these ?
  • Should I migrate to a separate ActiveMQ server and remove that subsystem ?
  • So many question ...

Thanks !

How to install localsend plugin without USB access

I read the official doc on installing the Localsend plugin.

The problem is the part where I should

>Extract localsend.koplugin to your KOReader plugins directory

I cannot do that since my Linux laptop cannot write to MTP device for some reasons. ( I tried to debug it but to no avail)

I already tried to open the download page via the Kindle web browser but it cannot open the page.

How can I copy this file to my jailbroken kindle if I can't have access to its files via USB ?

This is frustrating me since this is the reason why I want to instal localsend in the first place
