PSA: Food Dynasty has fresh tortillas

EDIT: Food Bazaar, not Food Dynasty.

This is the new-ish one on 34th Ave and Junction. Recently visited for the first time and was delighted to see they have a machine that makes fresh tortillas you can buy onsite. Much better than the standard grocery store tortillas which have the texture of frisbees and are full of preservatives.

LaGuardia folks, do you have your placement yet?

Last submitted my work choices on June 7, haven’t heard anything since then. Emailed a few days ago, no response. Guess I have to call Monday, hope they didn’t lose my file.

Question for LaGuardia peeps

The form to indicate your top job choices has this “Program Type” drop-down menu. The three options make no sense to me. Anyone know what to do here?

Can you check if a candidate fraudulently used your name to get on the ballot?

I received a disturbing postcard from the Hiram Monserrate campaign thanking me for signing his election petition. I would never sign anything in support of that person. I'm already worried that the two Jessica's are going to split the vote and we'll end up with the corrupt woman-beating mojón in office again.

Is there any way to check if your name appeared on a candidate's election petition?

What if Sucre had lived?

Antonio José de Sucre, one of the great military leaders in the South American wars of independence. Rose to fame as a brilliant commander, became first* president of the Republic of Bolivia. Sucre strongly favored civilian control of government, constitutional law, and progressive social reforms. Bolívar believed him to be the only man who could have reunited the Gran Colombia.

He was assassinated by Bolivar’s enemies in 1830 at the age of 35.

How might have South American history been different if he hadn’t been murdered?

*EDIT: Of course, Sucre was second president of Bolivia, and Bolívar was first. De regreso a la aula.

Maybe pigs *can* fly?

Lafayette Street in Manhattan is being repaved for several blocks, and the cement is all ripped up without any markings. Nonetheless, drivers appear to be respecting the bike lane by parking away from the curb. So surprising I had to stop and take a picture.
Don’t worry, a few blocks up on Broadway it’s back to double parking and trucks in the bike lane.

Protest in front of IS230?

My kid said he saw a group of people protesting in front of the IS230 annex building (34th Ave & 75 St) around 5pm this afternoon. Said their signs said something about “buffers.” Anyone know what that was?
