New to me, worn paint job

I've just picked up these worn chequerbord Docs. I'd like to make them black all over. Is there a way to remove the (mostly worn off) existing pattern?

I've applied black nugget (last pic), and while that looks tolerable I'm not sure if it will stay that way.

Looking for a pattern for this placemat I found accidentally.

I've found other images of this style on Pinterest, Facebook, and instagram, but no luck finding a pattern yet.

Who's responsibility is the ground around bus stops?

I was at this bus stop today and noticed the mess and moss growing. The moss is a slip hazard, so I reported it to council. Council have said that bus stops are Metros domain. The metal parts would be Metro, but the concrete around it? Who does that belong to?

Time travel movies/series akin to Outlander

Is there a movie or series semi like Outlander? I know some books are supposed to be very alike, but I can't say I've found a movie or series.

I'm after a 'modern' person who goes back in time (100+ years) and struggles with no modern conveniences (electricity, indoor plumbing, vehicles).

I've lived in my social housing for over 10 years. I'm well established in this property.

Recently a work order came to my phone and yesterday I got a call. It is for new carpet. Sounds great. No? No.

The place came with carpet that the previous tenant installed. (Yes, I know carpet depreciates.) after all this time, I have a decent amount of furniture, and a 500L freezer on said carpet.

How is carpet supposed to be laid while there is a tenant in situ? Is this a 'you're moving out while we do this' thing? Am I supposed to move everything off the existing carpet? (It can't be done. The freezer would take up ALL the kitchen space. Can I refuse?

Despite lodging myriad things to maintenance, like the missing mortar, those things haven't been maintained, and now they want to put their own carpet in?
