Annual reminder of who Dursun Ozbek is (hoping that y'all won't forget this time) and the words of Mustafa Cengiz about him (may he rest in peace)

90% of the fans got fooled because Dursun Ozbek cruised on the back of the success of Erden Timur and Okan Buruk. This transfer period I hope opens the eyes of fans, that whatever they do won't make him redeem himself. After 4 years of such domination we shouldn't always be on the edge of crumbling and fans having to fight so hard to avoid being put into crisis by the management of this board.

Hatirlarsiniz bu kelimeleri : Dursun Ozbek giderken cok pis bir sekilde kulubumuzu carpacak ve herseyi yikarak gidecek.

P.S. Mustafa Cengiz: Galatasaray'a haciz ve icra getiren birisiyle kenetlenmem

Discussion : what are people's thoughts on Ibrahim Hatipoglu? And do you see a link between him leaving and yagli surat possibly sabotaging the season?

To me it always seemed obvious, but we all agree and know that he was a "hukumet" adami, right? He is not from the lise, not a long time figure of the club. My understanding with him has always been that we know how TR works, any organization or institution has to bend the knee to the government unfortunately to be able to not be sabotaged (imo that's what happenned to us with the 21-22 season, with all the outrageous ref mistakes in the first 10 games that made us freefall from the race and the vicious bans given to Terim). And so our board was basically forced to take him on, but as a way to neutralize him, they put Hatipoglu and Kavukcu as both heads of sporting operations. Doing that was a way to appear like we're bending the knee but neutralizing him by making him share the role and fight things internally so that he cannot sabotage us. It's when I read the reports about these two internally competing against each other (each competing and working towards getting their player and playing internal politics) and the goal being eventually to discourage Hatipoglu and have him resign himself to a "paper pusher" and "symbolic" role so that he appears as occupying a role (and therefore immunizing us from getting sabotaged by the government) while neutralizing him by not gibing him any real powers and not allowing him to fckup things.

All of this to me was and alway been very obvious, but I was curious if the average fan understood this. That's the first thing I am curious about the sub's take.

The second thing is this : they did eventually tire that mf out and he left. And it doesn't look like we're appearing to curry favour with the government now. And recently there are rumours about yagli surat having been ordered to give up the season; we know that they feel threatened when something or someone becomes too big and starts escaping from their control (i.e. we're 4 times champion, even when refs try to sabotage us we're still able to surpass that and win, we have closed our debts, our revenues depend more and more from the fans and international competitions, all equals to +++independant from government's power). And despite all of this when we should be flying to the "Next Level" (especially considering the last phase of the season that exposed our weaknesses), we're being in a very obvious way held down by yagli surat when all other clubs around us are flying with transfers. And I don't believe this is just random incompetence, feels more like a planned one.

P.S. I know all of this can feel like conspiracy theories, but there is a different between that and reading politics between the lines. TR is not a country where institutions, organizations and society as a whole is operating based on rules and the rule of law.

Merci.

I vow to not watch a single game this season if we do another whole year with just Apokerim and Sanchez as CBs

Dilimizde tug bitti yonetim bir stoper alin diye. Apokerim and Sanchez have absolutely no competition which leads to poor form. When they are in terrible form, whether physical or mental we are stuck continuing to play them. Apokerim is too goddamn slow for UCL, he gets cooked on the positioning too. It was the same thing last year and that's ultimately what killed us in UCL (and gave us a hard time in the league). This is the no fullback for 2 seasons all over again. Our CB positions have been a HUGE limitation, nay the biggest, for YEARS.

I see everyone, the fans and the media, talking about everything - wingers, midfielders a backup striker - everything but talking about CBs. Feels like I am living and trapped in an absurd dream.

I'm sorry lads, but I can't anymore. I can't go on and watch a whole season with this CB duo alone, and if there is nothing that's done (and really looks like nothing substantial will be done), I won't go through a whole other season of abuse all over again.

Is the turkish league really this bad compared to the past?

I am not saying in comparison of other league standards, I am talking historically. The league now compared to the league before. I can't stress this point enough, the turkish league is bad yes, the sky is blue. But I am saying compared to before. Because the last 2 years we've heard a lot of how supposedly the league is weaker than what it used to be historically, but is that really the case considering:

  • the number of players that are playing in the WC (and being succesful at it);
  • considering the result of top table teams compared to how it used to be just a couple of years before (I remember the years where GS for example would be bulldosed several goal differences each game).

Because I find it genuinely odd how the narrative conflicts with the number of players in the WC (maybe it has something to do with the higher number of teams, idk).

Obviously, again, in normal standard I think it's pretty bad, we all agree on it. What I am curious is whether that perception of "in the past previous seasons were much much better" is the typical case of nostaljia , i.e. "life was so much better before". Thoughts?

Let's talk about it : how can Trabzonspor's scouting this much better than ours and what are the factors behind our failure in scouting?

I'm looking at what they have done with Oulai, how they scouted him and the price at which they got him (and how he has been - and still is during this WC - killing it). They were also the ones that had scouted Nhaga before us (which we hijacked). How is it possible that Trabzonspor have a better scouting than us? What are they doing right?

For the academy, I know why it's not working (and is bound to inevitable failure) because of social and economical reasons that are entrached in the societal and political context. But for scouting, I don't get it. What are the structural and organizational factors behind our inability to establish a proper scouting department? We obviously have the resources to do so. Thoughts?

Davinson Sanchez has been, and still is right now, killing it at the WC. He has flaws, but even entertaining the idea of letting him go is ludicrous.

Just a reminder that currently, and for the whole year, we did not have a rotation CB that is first team quality that could offer competition to Sanchez' spot. Ideally, we should have an additional CB on top of Sanchez. If we get rid of Sanchez, you realize that now, we have to get TWO CB, right?

One of the key to the squad we've built over the years, that we have improved (and still need to improve) is that we have two first team level players at most spot, which puts players in competition for the spot and forces them to increase their performance and offers an alternative for us when one of them is out of form (imagine if this year we were left with Yunus only when he was out of form, or Sane when he was out of form). At most positions we have created this dynamic of multiple first team level players for each spot:

  • LB : Jakobs and Eren;
  • RB : Sallai and Singo (and even Boey);
  • RW : Baris and Noa;
  • LW : Sane and Yunus
  • 6, 8 and 10 (I lumped them together because of the way we played these guys actually played in multiple different zones with different roles : Torreira, Lemina, Sara and Ilkay (+Berkan + Kaan)
  • Striker : Osimhen and Icardi (yes, Icardi' form is debatable, but that's not the point here)
  • LCB : Apokerim and [no one else]
  • RCB : Sanchez and [no one else]

Do you see the issue? From the start of the year, it was obvious that this was going to be a problem, one didn't need to be genuise to see the inevitable and obvious, and during the year it became our weak point. As things stand, we already need minimum one more CB ON TOP of what we have. And with how transfers intrinsically work, we know very well that it can be and hit and miss. Maybe the guy we'll get will be either a flop (remember Cuesta...?) or maybe just not the good fit or not good enough (remember Kohn and Angelino?). Just remember how many players we went through to find an acceptable RW, LW, LB or RB before finding the right players? If this happens, at least we would have Sanchez as a fallback (and he was out of form this year, you can argue, as we can see from his WC performance, that form can be brought and managed back) on top of being the second first team level player at the CB spot.

I don't get this idea that when a player's form is deemed not enough (not bad, just not impactful enough), that we would get rid of him before finding his replacement. It's just as when we got rid of Angelino, look at how long we were stuck playing Berkan as LB. Couldn't we have kept him and brought a different LB, and IF HE WORKED, THEN let him go? I'd understand our board for this level of short thinking, but I would expect our fans to be more level headed (don't laugh).

I didn't watch the game and glad I didn't : after the first game it was clear this is what was going to happen. What could you expect from playing 1.72m guy as striker and a CB playing for years in saudi arabia?

I instead went to sleep and did not disrupt my sleep for this. Because it was clear that something like this was going to happen.

What did you guys expect from playing a CB who has been playing for years in saudi arabia? From playing a 1,72m midget as striker? And yet, the only change between the first and second game was Baris, as if he was the problem and the main issue.

These two decisions alone showed that Montella's decision making was outrageously flawed. And going to the WC made 90% of the fans forget how terrible and atrocious our run to qualification was with the last 3-4 games.

DO NOT BUY : Midea 14,000 BTU / 12,000 BTU SACC DUO Smart Inverter Portable Air Conditioner

I spent nearly a thousand bucks on this, and it stopped working literally just a couple of days after the expiry of the one year warranty. Compressor gave up, it doesn't blow cold air anymore (and therefore doesn't expel hot air from the exhaust). And it's not fixable as per a technician, said I'd have to buy a new one.

I had contacted Midea support, they asked me a thousand questions as if they were actually trying to solve the issue, and then said "After review, we have confirmed that the warranty period on your unit has expired. Therefore, we will not be able to provide an in-warranty service. If you wish to have your unit serviced out of warranty, we can recommend a service technician in your area that you may contact directly."

I had already told them that in the first place, the very first thing.

This is the single most disappointing purchase of my whole life. Save your money, buy anything else than Midea or this AC, I know I won't, and you will thank me for it.

Why isn't the FB fans and the turkish football community talking about what seems to me as an obvious scandolous hit put on Saran last year?

I don't understand why FB fans and the larger turkish community isn't talking about the hit that was put on Saran by the government last year.

I mean it cannot be more obvious than this. All of sudden legal charges are put on him for sniffing koko, whereas we all know that socialites in this country do 1000x more depraved things. We all know that 90% of multi millionaires and billionaires do much more than powder. And wasn't there some re-testing done that came negative? Which then goal posts shifted and all of a sudden a jail sentence came against him about a betting case. All of that within less than 12 months of being elected? Sometimes you just need to take a step back, look at the large picture and have to put 2 and 2 together to see what's going obn.

Imo, Saran tried to manage FB in an actual competent ("westerner") way : build a culture of no excuse, no public statements about how you can't win, no endeavour to create chaos (chaos that serves the government and their interest by distracting from what they're doing politically), no populist moves of interferring in the staff's work and decisions. And he likely tried to stay neutral to politics and probably didn't kiss the ring, which my theory is that this is why that hit was put on him. Of course, one can argue that he should have been more politically savy and perceptive naviguating the sociopolitical context.

This seems to me to be the most obvious (and actual real) case of a political hit put on FB, yet no one seems to be making waves or talking about this. And then it's no surprise and very sad that that fans were left to elect with on one hand an extreme populist megaloman announcing transfers left and right when he wasn't even elected yet and had was not even in full known of the financial circumstances of the club, and on the other hand with the old dusty disconnected relic coming back with his pal Kocaman.

It seems to me that Saran would have fixed FB but that he didn't get the support from anyone in the FB camia and from the fans.

Yet no one talks about this. Is it because no PR was properly made on this issue? We keep on denouncing the political situation in TR, yet our reactions seem to still be entirely determined by propaganda (or the absence of it). Curious about the thoughts of turkish fans on this.

How would you compare Osimhen's performance last year compared to this year?

He still is a one man army and is often unplayable and elite, but how do you compare his performance with that of last year's? It did feel like last year's performance was simply outrageous and at a level I had never seen in my life. Every single game he seemed like he would pull something out of this world, one game he is putting in a bicycle kick goal the next he runs past 2 defenders in the box with the ball glued to his forehead and after that he scores goals out of thin air. And I also remember him being more clinical and falling less on offside. What are your thoughts on that?

I am a strong believer than any individual, no matter how talented, needs to have competition to thrive and need to be always on edge and never too comfortable to get to their optimal performance. How would that work in the case of Osimhen?

Learn from "rival" fans, you may have grievances or disagreements, but be classy.

This is a callout for our fans: look at what happenned to FB this season, the key breaking points, and take lessons from it.

FB fans did not like En-Nesyri, but it was still their only striker and he was banging goals. But the dislike from the fans came to a point where they started rooting against him and mocking him, degrading him, became vicious and stopped supporting him. And there were some reports that it's because of the treatment he was given by the fans that he asked to leave. And that's how their club was left basically without a striker and their board failed to provide a good replacement. Another lesson : things do not always get better and go higher. And their striker situation was one of the main reasons they lost the championship.

Look at the treatment made to some of their important players and how they left the club, how it leaves them without ambassadors like our players (look at the post-contract connection of Taffarel, Muslera, Mertens, Lemina - after his first spell -, Sneijder, Arda and Drogba, just to name a few), how they become influential and put out a good word for us and become part of the club culture.

Look at what happenned with their Ederson debacle : do you think it's a pure coincidence that week(s) after his wife and child got mobbed and insulted on social media by their fans he made game-losing outrageous mistakes that are unexplicable from a keeper of his caliber which cost them the championship? No, I don't believe it's a coincidence, you just have to put 2 and 2 together. Now there are reports about how he is sitting on his contract and claiming every single dime of it which seems to be done out of spite.

It reminds me of this concept of "zone of incertitude" in organizational sociology that postulates that in a system every single individual possesses "zones of incertitudes", areas of actions that you cannot control and regulate where they have autonomy and can f*ck you over if they feel like they are being treated unfairly.

So, you might have disagreements, you may have grievances with certain players or the staff or the manager, but as a fanbase we should express those with class. We should not take up on social media to start mobbing them.

We should show some grattitude and some recognition to a manager that brought us 4 titles in a row, taking us from the slumps of 13th place to 4 championship in a row, breaking countless historical records and bringing us all the way to UCL last 16.

We should recognize that Icardi played almost the entirety of his second season with injections despite his injury and put his health and career on the line for us to win that championship whereas he could have taken the decision to preserve and protect himself and his form by taking the decision to focus on his rehabilitation and health and think of himself. A sacrifice that had a snowball effect and which one can argue that it laid the foundation for his ligament tear, which is something 90% of players (especially of his age) won't come back to their previous form from it.

We should realize that Kaan Ayhan acted unselfishly and very gracefully and sacrificed himself by accepting to play and do his best as fullback (because the board left us without one) when he likely knew very well that he was not suited for that position requiring lots of agility and speed and that he is not familiar playing down the line.

We should recognize the mid-long term impact Ilkay will have for us, for the club brand. He might just become the next Terim and the next Okan Buruk.

All and all to say, mentionning grievances and disagreement is one thing, actively rooting and campaigning against the staff and players is another, which is caused by many's miscomprehension of "we have a culture of being critical", and what happenned to FB this season should serve as the perfect lesson. We should embrace the See something, say something motto when some "fans" are harming the club with their attitude and behaviour. Let's have some class towards our players and staff. Let's show that we are different.

First on the performance side : I was expecting more, but I guess I understand that the guy is 35-36 yrs old and that physicality was never one of his strength (compared to Mertens for example who always had been a physical specimen).

But I am moreso wondering about the locker room presence and his leadership in the team. Gundogan was always a giant locker room character in the teams where he was, he is very well articulated, very intelligent and always had great presence. However, I didn't see much of that at GS. But maybe he was and I just missed it and maybe it just wasn't very visible publicly and through social media, and not that he seemed bad, just that it seemed mild compared what I've seen his whole career (like this for example : https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xSlJL4LUut4 ). I also do recognize that our team does have HUGE characters, but still.

So, what was your impression of the impact of Ilkay's presence on the team (leadership-wise)?

Edit : and how bizarre is it that Buruk didn't give much nudges or made much references to Ilkay this year? I absolutely am of the opinion that with the wealth of experience he has at the highest level, with his game intelligence and having been Guardiola's close pupil for so long that he should be on the coaching staff and that him and Buruk would have a bromance, but I didn't get such a sense this year. Didn't hear much from Buruk's interviews this year to any reference to Ilkay. How odd is that?

What happenned in the derby by the federation was the most blatant case of hit job, sabotage and corruption. Their message was actually this : I'll sabotage you and gaslight you by :

  • appointing the worst ref possible, which already did the most terrible officiating I have seen in years in the away derby;
  • whereas he does not even have a FIFA badge;
  • whereas there are more qualified referees such as Halil Umut Meler with their FIFA badges;
  • and to add insult to injury, I'll even also appoint Abdullah Buğra Taşkınsoy as the AVAR, the geographical offside guy.

And their message doing that gaslighting was : "I'll fkcng put a hit job for everyone to see in daylight because I can do anything and nothing is gonna happen, so you better bend a knee and submit to me and kiss the ring".

This TFF administration is acting like a f*ckng bandit and thug organization, which is not surprising considering this president is one that acted like a common gangster a few years ago taking referees as hostages for several hours after a game. If it's fair game for him to do it, and now that he's the elected president of the federation, maybe we should follow his lead and do the same?

So why does it seem like our board is not doing much about what happenned during the derby? Felt like they crossed a red line. Just because we won, have they gone radio silent (besides that communcation they posted)? We won, but I am still not over what happenned and I am still furious about it.

I think the majority of the fanbase is of the same idea. Icardi is a legend, brought so much to the club, made huge sacrifices, is a dominant character in the dressing room, but that he doesn't seem focus, that he wasn't able to get back to his previous fitness level, that he has a lot of distractions in his life, and that for the salary that he is currently getting paid we should maybe not continue with him, especially in a squad where Osimhen is there. We all agree on that.

But look at it this way : look at the top elite striker shortage in modern football. There is such a scarcity of strikers that tier 1 and tier 2 clubs are still playing +35 yrs old strikers. Lewa still playing at 37, Dzeko at 40, Benzema, Giroud and Aubameyang playing and still many top European clubs would consider signing them, because there are simply no proper options for elite strikers. And we have Icardi who still could play until 36-37 years old, for another 3-4 years easily, especially considering his poacher profile. I mean Inzaghi made a career out of touching the ball a handful number of times and scoring tap ins. In such a global and market context, when the guy has his fee in his hand and is here, wouldn't it be wiser, despite all the cons (because we know the list is long), to extend him?

I am not saying that it should be a 10M contract, nor that we'll ever see 99 Icardi again (heck he is 33 and tore his ACL after one year of playing injured with injections) but what about maybe 3-4M contract with bonuses on top of it? Provided that of course with the proper motivation and security he would show a better form than the previous games (yes, he is horrendous right now, frustrating and we came to a point where we basically are better off playing Baris as striker...). But what's the option? Strikers like that brazilian what's his face that we had on a loan that I forgot his name?

Wouldn't we regret it if we were to see Icardi balling at a top tier team for several more years if he were to leave?

I am moreso just being contrarian and exploring the other side of the view that is mostly dominant in the fanbase, thought it would make a good discussion topic.

P.S. Or the alternative : we start playing Singo as a back up striker😃
