Stream inverter - have we been mislead here?

2x430W bifacial panels due West on the brightest clearest day and neither panel gets above 250W.

The issue, despite naysayers - has to be the inverter's behaviour. After all the specs say it'll take up to 430W per panel and is capable of outputting 800W.

Best I manage is 551W.

That's quite a gap. I'd expect 700W to be entirely realistic.

So, what's the story here?

Invest for better sleep.

Yeah, it's an odd title but goes to the heart of what we wanted to say. This one's really for those who're over the hump of getting their business started and are getting more busy than they're used to.

You're going to come up against a 'double header' Friday/Saturday consecutive gigs. It's commonplace given that we all tend to work around weekends mostly.

On the evening you get home after that first day - you're going to need to get your cards downloaded, clothes prepped for the morning and ALL your batteries recharged. If you come through the door late, you may well be very late before you're able to hit the hay - that'll make day two harder.

So, while you have time to think about it and before you spend all your newly created profit from the business on a holiday...think about your home base set up. Have you got loads of batteries, have you got enough chargers to get them all boosting at the same time? If you're able to load them all up at once and go to bed you're grabbing valuable shut eye that'll make for better photos tomorrow.

As an extension of this, it can be good to have an 'away from home' kit. with extension cables and such since hotel rooms are often socket limited and you don't want to be already disadvantaged by being away from home plus discombobulated with your charging procedures.

Maybe folks have other ideas, disagree or will offer suggestions for those who are into the groove with this job but haven't yet hit all the hurdles that come with being busy.

Anyway, if this thought process saves one tog losing a couple of hours sleep when they're Dog tired, it'll be worth it.

Current question Ecoflow Stream microinverter.

I'm about to set up a plug-in system and noted the Ecoflow Stream has a maximum current of 16Amps. If I have a couple of 400W + panels connected in parallel it seems likely I'd exceed that.

Am I missing a point here since surely loads of us are using larger panels at this point, and in parallel since it's typical to find panel Voltages of 30V+ (I know it's bad to exceed voltage on an MPPT).

So, with the Ecoflow is it just pointing out that clipping would occur above 16Amps DC input from the panels?

I'd rather over panel a bit as I'm West facing and have a year to realise how much output drops in the Winter months.

Semi-exotic plants for polytunnel in Norfolk, UK.

Hi allotment folks. We've got our polytunnel up and operational - thanks to those who offered advice a few months back here.

80% is occupied or likely to be occupied with Tomatoes and stuff that'll help produce a pasta sauce - literally the original idea that led us to making a polytunnel.

However, we've become aware just how nice it is to spend time in the tunnel, especially when the weather is doing what it has been recently, raining. So we're planning to have around 20% of the floor layout for permanent plants we can sit and look at, for flower or scent etc.

As an idea of the kind of thing that'd be cool, we fancied Bougainvillea but aren't sure it'll be ok if there's a frost. We had a cold snap recently with 4" of ice on the pond and one -12C night.

What 'semi-exotic' stuff have you folks managed in your poly tunnels please?

Victron Pheonix 12v/1200VA power draw at idle

Recently swapped out a Pheonix 12/500VA which has an eco mode consumption of around 8W shown on the app, to the larger 12v/1200VA version which shows 23W draw again on Eco mode with no connected equipment.

Is that a normal amount of Wattage at idle?
