Best to use with dogs?

Zone 6.

I’ve been trying to learn more about ditching grass and exploring other lawn options, I really like the micro clover idea- but being in a northern state in the US (Michigan) I would have a dirt/mud plot of land for my large dog 6 months out of the year.

Has anyone found a better option? Something that doesn’t need to be mowed, and doesn’t totally die back in winter?

Adding games onto BGG

I just finished adding just about all our games onto Board Game Geek. Have any of you added your games and then went into shock? Like that’s IT???

I thought we had so many more than this! I thought we had over 100, 20 game purchases ago! So many of these are tiny.. how am I running out of room? 😂

I’d love to see everyone’s collections from BGG if you have yours added also? (If it’s allowed?)

Looking for advice on patching canopy

Best way to patch a canopy? I’ve tried a few others before that have made it worse. I want to take care of it before it gets worse… thanks!

My 1st Oriole of the season 🫶🏼

They don’t stick around long here in northern Michigan, but it’s my favorite time of year when they’re here. Need to get them a new feeder though, I don’t care for this one- it seems awkward for them to get to the jelly, and want a covered one.

If you have recommendations on your favorites, I’d love to check them out.

My Rose is back! 🫶🏼

We used to have rose breasted grosbeaks everywhere here at our cottage years ago, but haven’t seen a single one in over 3 years now. I’m so happy! One of my favorites 🥹 Great way to start the day, seeing a favorite bird.
(And right before Rose appeared, I had the 1st Oriole of the year too! They’re so pretty 🫶🏼)

Every single time we order food, why?!

Whether it’s food or packages… they always place it directly in front of the door. Theres even a little table out there, hoping they would use it.… Nope, let’s block the door instead 😒 Any driver care to help me understand this???

Edit: Note is left when ordering, and there’s a physical note outside, to put delivery/food on table.
Edit 2: I do tip well!
Edit 3: Thanks for the advice, I’m going to start leaving the screen door open when I order. (Watch them put the food on the other side of it)

Weeping Willow help

My MIL and I had planted a small weeping willow at the lake at our cottage 3 years ago. That picture was taken a year ago, this year it’s completely dead.
Aphids kept attacking it, we tried different things to get rid of them… but tree ended up dying.
(She put the wire cage around it to stuff with leaves over the winter each year, to help protect it from the deep winter, snow from the hill coming down pushing on it)
Pretty sure the aphids weren’t the only reason it died though.
We want to try again, planting a larger one… but could really use some advice for the best outcome. 💜

Here’s what I’m working with here-
👉🏻The property is in the US, lower northern Michigan, zone 5a.
👉🏻Property has a slope down to the lake, very sandy soil.
👉🏻We planted it about 12ft from the water the 1st time, can go closer or farther if needed. (Water level changes though)
👉🏻Very sandy soil, needs amendment.
👉🏻Needs aphid control, but no pesticides due to lake.
👉🏻direction of photo is facing east, gets sun all day except for evening, dappled sun through trees on hill.

Making iPhone stickers

Wasn’t sure which sub to post- since it’s an iPhone feature I figured I’d try here.
I’m trying to turn these into stickers for my mother in law, (her granddaughter did her hair like that 😂) usually I don’t have this hard of a time doing it. I ended up using the magic eraser app to remove the backgrounds, hoping it would then save the whole thing as a sticker, but still not working.
As you can see when it’s outlining it, it picks up part of the white but not all of it.
Anyone know any other tricks to get it to work right? What am I doing wrong? 🥺

▲ 112 r/bats

I have limited internet right now, so having a hard time searching. Up at our cottage in northern Michigan doing some work. Found a little bat under the bug light, I think he was after the bugs last night and got zapped.. ran into it. He has what looks like little burns on his wings.

I called the Gaylord DNR, they gave me a couple numbers for rehabbers. One of them answered- said that bats are illegal for rehabbers to take in. The little guy is so weak, he surely won’t make it outside around here… I feel heartbroken for it. Is this true? Anyone know what I can do? Headed back down state over the weekend to Detroit metro area… currently in Lewiston area.
