Hi there! I’m exploring the specialty coffee scene while traveling, so here’s my latest haul. Have you tried any of these?

I’ve been struggling with this for a long time, but today’s question finally made me write a post.

I believe that for the app creators, and maybe for the majority of users whose native language is English, the wording and the options are clear.

However, there are also users of the app for whom English isn’t their native language, and the wording and emojis answer options can be confusing as hell.

For example: why is “prefer alone” represented by a happy smiley, while “prefer a group” is represented by a sad one?

I love the app, but I would really recommend double-checking survey questions and answers with people from different language and cultural backgrounds. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one with this problem, and it’s not the first time this feature has been completely confusing.

Also, why not provide written answer options instead of, or at least together with, emojis? That way users wouldn’t have to guess whether they understood the question correctly.
