The Kenosha humane society is currently still facing a higher than usual cat population.

Ways the community can help.

  1. Leave healthy stray cats outside. Many people still have cats that they let outside or a cat may get out and become lost. Cats are far more likely to reunited with their owners if left where you found them. Do bring in sick, injured, young kittens or cats in immediate danger. If you find kittens please wait a few hours before bringing them to the shelter. Mother cats often need to leave their kittens for short periods of time and we want to keep moms and babies together.

  2. Foster or adopt. During the month of October we are going to be running many adoption specials to help cats and dogs leave the shelter.

  3. When surrender an animal please call ahead and leave a message. This allows us to be better prepared for their arrival and allows us to make sure we have space to accommodate them.

  4. Donating to our pet food pantry to help local families feed their pets.

  5. Volunteering. We are always looking for volunteers and we need help every day a week.

  6. Use our free rehomeing page to rehome animals or local Facebook groups.

I'm made a post a few days ago and I wanted to make a new post with more information . We are still seeing a large number of cats coming into to the shelter weekly. If possible please wait to surrender pets until our population has gone down or call a head so we can set up a day to assist you. Also please remember we are closed for surrenders Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Also please be understanding that we are very understaffed right now and may need to close early sometimes to ensure that the animals in our care get the best care possible. The health and well-being of the animals in our care comes first. We are working on getting more staff hired and trained.

If looking for any assistance or resources please call or vist our website. https://www.wihumane.org/

I want to thank everyone in the community who supports us.

The Kenosha humane society needs your help. We are beyond capacity and are out of cat kennels.

Ways you can help

  1. Adopt or consider fostering

2 Leave healthy stray cats outside until the shelter population is at a manageable level.

3.Consider alternative options for needing to rehome pets. Like posting in a local Facebook group or trying our rehomeing page https://www.wihumane.org/service/virtual-rehoming/. Also contacting the shelter before surrendering so we can make space or give you an estimate for when we can take the animal.

4.Volunteering

I am not making this post to discourage people from getting help. I am just trying to inform people about the severe overpopulation crisis at the shelter. People need to understand that we are not trying to be mean to you when you try to surrender an animal and we tell you we do not have space. We are not lying to you. Even waiting a week can help us. Stray populations are extremely high right now and that is affecting our abilities to take in surrenders.

The overpopulation issue is not just limited to cats.

We also have a high number of dogs and small animals like guinea pigs.

The Humane Society is also running amazing adoption promotions this month to help move cats out of the shelter.

We are also extremely understaffed.

Please understand that due to us being understaffed there may be days that we have to close operations early due to this ,so that we can better care for the animals. We are working on getting people hired and trained so we expect staffing to be a lot better in the next few weeks.

Also if you're looking for any assistance please go to our website or call us and leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Help i think i might be in an abusive relationship.

Warning the video contains cussing.

I'm have been with my fiance for almost 5 years and I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant. Every single day I'm being yelled at for literally everything I do. He is definitely an alcoholic and drinks around 15-18 beers a night. The day that this video occurred i was very busy all day i had a doctor's appointment and my aunt called for over 2 hours. I also had a conference call with my new job. So I didn't have time to do the 3 dishes in the sink before my fiance got home from work. The house was completely clean by 4pm , he gets home at 330 .The house is always clean besides for maybe a few dishes. I have been struggling a bit to keep up because a lot of smells make me sick at the moment. I lost my job at the beginning of May and recently got my dream job. I have always had a job and worked full time since we got together and i pay over half the bills. My fiance blames me for everything, like get arrested. No you got arrested because you get drunk and start fights with the neighbors. I bailed him and paid for his lawyer, he told me he would stop drinking and be nicer to me. He has gotten worse and has even started to get physically violent. I don't have my drivers license or a savings at the moment and my family lives 10 plus hours away. I'm worried that if i say anything to him about getting help for his drinking and anger that he will kick me out .The drinking is getting worse and I'm worried that he is abusive. Should I stay and try to work things out or should I leave?
