Is it possible to operate business if you haven't spent years in the industry as an employee?

So i am an employee in an industry which i don't like much and the kind of business model that industry follows, i just don't like it , but i had to spend years in this industry for some immigration purposes. I always wanted to do something of my own but i always see people around me spending years as employees in an industry before opening their business. For example - a trade guy would get his master ticket after 4-5 years and then go for business, a restaurant owner was chef for years before he started one of his own, a mechanic would open his own workshop after years of experience . But i always wonder , did a liquor store owner spent years selling liquor before he opened his store or a pizza store owner always master at making pizzas? Ofcourse i am not asking if anyone can open a business without any knowledge about the industry? I am just asking if its mandatory to spend years in something before you start your own thing in that industry?

Need some advice on vape and smoke shop in bc canada?

I was planning to start looking into vape and smoke business in victoria , bc canada. There are few reasons that i am thinking of this particular industry:

  1. Its not a crazy full time 24x7 attention grabbing business so i don't have to worry about burning alot of money in the beginning since i can do uber and stuff to earn basic living even if sales are break even at the store
  2. Its not a million dollar investment so its easier to get financed for small amount for someone like me who is doing it first time and can handle 30-40k at risk
  3. With growing demand , i have a confidence somewhere that this industry will stay steady for few years since new generation is liking vapes better than other forms of smokes.

The issue is i still don't want to jump in based on just assumptions , i would like to know from some experienced entrepeneurs or agents who know about the industry and can guide me if opening a new store is better or buying an existing one and what should we look for when opening/buying one? And are most of the store positive cash flows or this game is totally opposite to my expectations? If anyone has any suggestions , please provide suggestions

What careers would be good in real estate in coming times?

I am from Vancouver Island , BC. Few days ago i posted in this community regarding becoming a mortgage broker and received very mixed responses , most of them were pointing to the bad housing market . I am already in trades rn and i wanted to do something of my own independently or incorporation but not as a tradesman because i don't really like it that much that's why i don't become the best in it . That's why i gave mortgage a thought, but what other such careers are there in this industry where all my trades knowledge can be used along with an opportunity to quickly shift to be independent and do my own thing instead of a 9-5. Please give some suggestions.

Is it worth it to become mortgage broker in current market?

Hi everyone, Any mortgage brokers from BC out there for suggestion?
I was planning to do Mortgage broker course from UBC but i am not sure if this is the right time to invest in that. Some people say its not worth it but i also see some doing really good in the field. The reason for me to go for it is that i have studies some finance diploma after my high school and i like finance. I work in trades rn (which i don't like much) and now i wanted to do some thing on side to become financially independent and thought mortgage would be something i would like to do . What are your suggestions

Private label or arbitrage model?

Hi guys, i was just wanted to know the opinions from the existing seller central business owners located in US and Canada, what would you guys prefer in today's time? Is it private label or arbitrage model? I have tried the private label model but my experience hasn't been a good one, maybe because it requires a bit of heavy investment to have a brand name built where someone can actually buy the stuff from your new brand. And i haven't tried the arbitrage model yet but i feel like its also equally challenging because you need to buy in bulk from wholesalers and then compete with existing sellers over cheapest price especially with no reviews at all on your seller page. Please guide me and provide your opinions on this. I would really appreciate some insights on it.
Thanks!

Need helping in getting more sales

Hi everyone, i posted to this group a few weeks before mentioning how i started selling my first product on amazon fba but didn't get any sales , i started the advertising after getting some suggestions from the comments but it has been 2 months since my first listing and i haven't got even a single sale yet and i was already running on thin margin due to less quantity and higher costs and after advertising and professional account enrollment i have already crossed breakeven , tbh i don't care about profits for beginning, just want to build something which can consume my time and energy , but i am not sure what i am doing wrong , i can pay someone if he/she is ready to give me advice and help me atleast getting some sales in this first product . Its already priced below the average market price, the product is a
"320 pcs electrical heat shrink connectors kit " . The reason i chose that was there was less competition and other players were doing really well with sales. I got it private label and everything , but still can't connect the dots why am i missing on sales alot. Please help/ guide me if possible. Thanks!
