I am an international student on student visa
Employment Issues:
I started working for an employer with no written contract provided
In my first month, my payslip contained overtime hours and I am trying to stop. But the employer later issued an updated payslip, but the correction was never submitted to HMRC
My second month’s salary still has no record on my HMRC Personal Tax Account as of today
I have called HMRC and confirmed there is no record of my second month’s wages
My employer told me on WhatsApp that they had submitted the records, but HMRC confirmed this is not the case
Working Hours:
I was verbally told by my employer that working over 20 hours was fine
I was not aware this breached my visa conditions
When I tried to stop after the first month, my employer issued a new payslip which led me to believe the situation had been resolved
My second month’s total hours were approximately 109.5 hours, which included one week of Easter holiday
Steps I Have Taken:
I have stopped working overtime
I contacted Unseen UK who have recorded my case and provided a reference number
I plan to resign in approximately two weeks
Main Concerns:
Whether my current visa is at risk
How to explain this situation in future visa applications
Whether my employer could submit damaging records to HMRC after I resign as retaliation
