4 days into a new job and I was misled, want to resign but contract says minimum one month notice when leaving during probation.

What on Earth do I do, I've been at this place for 4 days and already feel like they are trapping me. I've been brought on to replace someone 2 positions above me and was not told this just the hiring process, the role is completely out of my titles calibre.

Started a new job after a year of being unemployed due to new autoimmune disease (Diagnosed 2025), feel misled & unsure what to do. Day by day experience and why I'm worried. (Rant and advice would be appreciated)

I'll try to keep this short, but won't be able to. TLDR at the bottom.

Started a new job last week, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (aged 24) start of 2025 while working my previous job, made it a week before they put me under a performance review and slowly started to get rid of me. Decided I needed some time off to take care of my health.

Fast forward a year, not coming off the best work experience, struggling to find a new job (Even with 1year experience, masters degree, lower end expected salary)

I get a call, we'll say this is day #1. I applied for a job online in my area with a decent commute and in my career field. Recruitment agency on behalf of the company asks me a few questions and then calls me in for an interview on the Tuesday day #2

Day #3 starts, and I have already received a call for a formal interview by 10:30am.

Day #4, formal interview with CEO & Manager, they talked about things but felt extremely vague in certain areas. Using terminology like "What if" and "How would you approach a situation where you got no help?"

Still day #4, offered the job within 20 minutes and I say yes sure, they ask for some prerequisites. Which I go ahead and get sorted.

At this point, I was over the moon. A new job after a year, fairly decent salary, short commute, seemingly very good workplace overall.

Day #5 Things get interesting.

I have been offered the job over the phone the previous day, next day the recruiter calls me to tell me they are going to downgrade the role (lower title position) after "review" and but I would get the same salary package.

My assumption was, it would be better if the role is a lower tier position than what I was going for, purely because I needed some time to get back into the swing of things after my time off. Friends and family said it was a positive so that I could have lower responsibility for a little while as I ease into it again. I wasn't extremely happy, as I had done the role for a year, studied for it for 5 years and APPLIED for it.

I took the job and got a call that I'd start work on the Wednesday (day #10 at this point since applying)

  1. No contact onboarding, all done through the phone on an app. Had to do everything myself, still no contact from any HR, just a call from my new manager.
  2. Start day arrives, rock up and get told I'll be trained by someone who is leaving in a week and is currently off sick.
  3. still no HR, I'm sat at a desk, given a laptop and a notepad and told to start looking at what I'll be doing.
  4. Am told I'll act as an assistant to the person who is leaving and that I should learn as much as possible before he goes.
  5. Notice a lot of names of people seemingly no longer with the company attached to documents.

First day feels weird but isn't too bad.

Day #11 2nd day and things start to look bad.

  1. The person who was off sick and leaving comes in, starts off by not noticing me sit down and says on the phone to someone "Oh, _______^(Myname)? the new guy? yeah I don't envy his position, he's walking into a shit show"
  2. Still no onboarding, start talking to the guy who is leaving pretty soon after he realises I'm sat there. He starts to indicate to me that I will be taking over his role. I tell him "Oh no, I'm just a starter role, I don't think I'll be doing that" Oh how wrong I was.
  3. Basically, I have been brought in, to fill a role, much higher than mine in responsibility and pay. Not only that, they decided to even further distance me from that position by downgrading the role after I interviewed.
  4. The worst part is, I asked. He said he was TOLD that I was his replacement. I work in Project Management. He is a project manager, I am 2 positions below that as a project coordinator. But I will be taking over his projects.

Day #12 3rd day and I am genuinely concerned about what is going on.

I've already been given training on a new system without really understanding the role, I've been told I'll be doing a role way higher than the role I interviewed for.

I decided to talk to my manager, I tell him I'm concerned about the role as I am not a project manager and I wasn't told I'd be replacing one, he says "ahhh it's easy you'll do fine" basically, I can tell the conversation is going nowhere so I back down and just return to my desk. Was told I had to prove my self to be the role I originally interviewed for, even though I did it very effectively for a year and have a substantial education behind me.

I start to realise that there is no HR department, there is no onboarding process. I've been sat at a desk, to do a role way above my pay grade, the role I interviewed for seemingly no reason has been downgraded, heaps of staff have left, culture is pretty off and overall I'm struggling to get my head around some of the weird processes they have.

The guy that is leaving is not leaving to a new position either, he is just leaving. He has also given me insight into some of the things I will be expected to do in the future on "my" projects and they sound extremely odd within the industry.

Day #12 ends, I go home, try to not think about is as I enjoy having a job after so long trying to find one.

Come back in on the Monday, today, it's been about 2 weeks since I applied and I think this is it. I think I am now expected to just do this job as of this coming Friday when the guy I'm replacing leaves and I'm not mentally prepared for it, nor am I comfortable with how quick/unprofessional and misleading the process was for what I'd be doing. AND there are things about the job that I'm not comfortable with, involving processes that sound like management pushing their responsibilities onto team members to save money.

I love the idea of having a job for the most part, unemployment is fun but I need the money to care for my condition.

It's day #13 tomorrow and I am sat here at my desk, waiting to go to sleep so I can get up and worry even more. I think I should leave before I'm in too deep.

I'm worried about my references, one of them knows the owner of this company I think and I struggled to get that reference in the first place. I don't want to go back to the endless job search. I'm 26 and falling behind in so many ways. I just feel hopeless.

TLDR; was sorta desperate for a job, got an opportunity and jumped on it, they downgraded the role after they offered me it. I turn up, find out I'm replacing someone who is in a much higher role than the one I was given, and will be taking their responsibilities. No real onboarding and just thrown into the deep end with a laptop and told to learn and be prepared to do this persons whole job when they leave.

Started a new FT Job today, has been very sudden (Interviewed less than a week ago) but pay is monthly, and missed the first pay cycle so won't be paid for a month. I have a JS payment in 2 days that I'd like to keep as that would float me to the next paycycle date. How do I approach this?

Just chasing some advice on how I can approach this, fuel is absolutely tearing me apart at the moment and it would be a lifesaver to get that last payment. Have been out of work for a while with a newly diagnosed autoimmune disease/disability also which is extremely costly to maintain.

Advice on dying a Yellow 100% Organic Cotton Stone-Island Sweatshirt (Any darker colour will do)

Hi!

Very new to this but have been seeing my girlfriend doing some diy dyeing quite successfully and was started to look at a specific piece in my wardrobe that I have long wanted to change the colour of.

This is the item, I have owned it for about 3 years now and it has quite a bit of sentimental value to me as I purchased it for myself after finishing my masters degree.

https://www.farfetch.com/au/shopping/men/stone-island-regular-fit-crewneck-sweatshirt-with-raglan-sleeves-item-33759193

I have tried to wear it but Yellow is too in your face and everytime I have worn it, it gets negative attention, so I’ve always wanted to dye it black or a darker colour.

I saw someone on here had actually dyed a similar colour T-shirt and was complaining it came out green but I thought it looked great compared to the yellow.

I would love some advice on how to approach this as I am very new to this and I understand you guys are the experts. Preferably black but I would also be open to greens/blues as long as it came out successfully.

AFK for 5ish minutes to take some irl medication, came back at exactly the right time.

I know starting a fire and going AFK is not optimal but unfortunately Type 1 comes first and it was insulin time. Regardless, very funny that this person didn't catch me off guard.

Anyone seen these extremely suspicious "Top Player" Servers?

Hi, Aus player here. Apologies to the mods if this is against rule 1. but I'm not advertising, genuinely just curious as to what I'm seeing.

I've come back to the game after about 2 years and my server brower is filled up with this almost completely full "top player" servers all with the same title, I can find absolutely nothing about them online and when I joined one, it seemingly changed my ingame language to Chinese and loaded me in.

Extremely suspicious and wondering if any other players have come across these servers and whether they are legit?

Uploading a realm not working (Times out while uploading, solutions & fixes seem to also come with negatives)

Hi, our friend who ran our original realm we have had for a while has stopped playing and doesn't want to pay anymore so he gave us the world.

We have been trying to upload the file from it being in the single player saves folder on the new hosts PC.

Issues & Attempted fixes

Times out after about 10-15 minutes, usually hits about 56% before giving up. x10 upload attempts made.

We decided the file size of 2.8gb was too big, so looked into ways to reduce this.

Efforts to reduce file size were successful, we got the world down from 2.8gb to 800mb and the realm successfully uploaded, but due to the cutting method (MCA selector) the world has a bunch of broken world generation.

"Successfully" is difficult to say, the upload of the 800mb world gets to 100% then times out during verification, but when opening the realm, it seems that the world is present (player made stuff and items are present)

Strangely enough, the nether is also completely reset including all of our nether roof structures. Even though the nether was fine on the single player upload and was untouched by the MCA selector.

Single player upload carried over all player data (Stats, Advancements, Deaths etc.) but the realms upload did not and also seemingly reset the world spawn we had set in game at our man-made spawn hub)

Looks like realms is terrible and just refuses to work effectively.

If Microsoft can't get their shit together, I don't doubt they'll lose practically all of their realms customers on Java to the much cheaper server hosting option.

PSA - Parasocial posts from Tik Tok & X (Twitter) - Are now going to be strictly removed under Rule 15.

Parasocial posts about anything will be removed for being weird. These posts are unhealthy for the community. If you are experiencing a parasocial attachment or "understanding" please seek help.

Even though we understand half of them are engagement/rage bait to get people angry (I'm aware some of them are also just genuinely made by mentally ill people).

This unfortunately is mainly aimed at people posting them on the sub out of anger. This just drives more engagement which causes people to further post parasocial content.

this means no more posts like this -

"Bladee/Ecco are trans"

"Why can't I date Bladee/Ecco/Lean" etc.

Discussion of the sexuality of the boys

Discussing their partners in anyway that isn't constructive/warranted (eg. if Yung Lean posts a photo/interview about/with girlfriend and someone links/posts it here, that is FINE)

Anything along the lines of these things will be removed and depending on what is posted, may result in a ban which again, depending on severity, may be permanent (Or feel like it)

Including posting a screenshot of the original post, posting to complain about who posted them, or complain about the parasocial behaviour. We don't want it anywhere near the sub.

Discussing the meaning of a song in relation to relationships is exempt depending on how constructive the discussion is (Eg. discussing the themes of Hex, may lead to someone talking about Bladee's love life, this is fine)

AGAIN THIS INCLUDES

Posting these to complain about who posted them, or complain about the parasocial behaviour. We don't want it anywhere near the sub.

Kind Regards!
