Captain Ar'Ulnan of The Faceless
Here's my counterpart to my earlier painted games day '91 captain.
Cpt Ar'Ulnan of The 2nd legion, The Faceless.
Ar'Ulnan is armed with a Kinetic Incinerator sword, an incredibly rare piece of technology.
The sword, powered by kinetic energy, heats up in nanoseconds, depending upon the force of the swing. The harder the swing, the hotter the blade.
Swung by a Space Marine, the blade can reach truly daunting temperatures, the excess heat being contained within an invisible energy field mere millimetres from the edge; the wielder feels no heat.
The blade's pommel contains highly efficient heat sinks and dissipation devices, ensuring that the blade is cool enough to touch almost as soon as it is stilled.
In practice, it functions similarly to a Power Sword, its blistering heat carving through armour and flesh with terrifying ease.
The Captain wears a cowl covering his upper face, hiding it from view; he suffers with a condition known as "The Dwindling" unique to The Faceless. His upper face and eyes are completely invisible, out of phase as they are with the reality in which the captain stands.
Also attached is the legion emblem of The Faceless, a depiction of the Shadow Gate, leading to a realm in to which The Faceless fear to pass, should their entire body succumb to The Dwindling.
