Help identify model

So this is a dude I traded for back when. The banner pole is a late addition by me.

But sword, shield, hands? Model itself?

Can anyone identify the models and parts?

Seems to be a blood angel from his chest piece with the blood drop?

I have run him as the bronze second in command of the gold painted Commander Tycho. Was considering trying to ebay another one for a 'silver' leutenant.

My Deathwing has strong roots

Strange how the story that made me start the collection of my Dark Angels has somehow been put aside but resists oblivion even among the new generations.

1991 Games Day Captain

Finished this guy up this past weekend for my growing Howling Griffons force, one of my favorite minis!

Captain Ar'Ulnan of The Faceless

Here's my counterpart to my earlier painted games day '91 captain.

Cpt Ar'Ulnan of The 2nd legion, The Faceless.

Ar'Ulnan is armed with a Kinetic Incinerator sword, an incredibly rare piece of technology.

The sword, powered by kinetic energy, heats up in nanoseconds, depending upon the force of the swing. The harder the swing, the hotter the blade.

Swung by a Space Marine, the blade can reach truly daunting temperatures, the excess heat being contained within an invisible energy field mere millimetres from the edge; the wielder feels no heat.

The blade's pommel contains highly efficient heat sinks and dissipation devices, ensuring that the blade is cool enough to touch almost as soon as it is stilled.

In practice, it functions similarly to a Power Sword, its blistering heat carving through armour and flesh with terrifying ease.

The Captain wears a cowl covering his upper face, hiding it from view; he suffers with a condition known as "The Dwindling" unique to The Faceless. His upper face and eyes are completely invisible, out of phase as they are with the reality in which the captain stands.

Also attached is the legion emblem of The Faceless, a depiction of the Shadow Gate, leading to a realm in to which The Faceless fear to pass, should their entire body succumb to The Dwindling.

Oldhammer feuds

That book, that miniature and this photo, are separated by 18 years each. How many memories... But above all, I remember that the Lion beat the Wolf at least twice. 😅😂😂

Is Oldhammer just aesthetics? Or is there something more than creates the Oldhammer feel?

I love Oldhammer, it's just everything I loved about Warhammer when I first got into it. I've been thinking recently about whether there were any books that captured the Oldhammer40K vibe.

The obvious ones are the Ian Watson books and maybe the first Space Wolves book. But that got me thinking about the things that make Oldhammer feel different, and not just look different. The visual differences are obvious, but what is it about the "lore" of older editions that makes them feel different? Does it feel different at all? Is it just nostalgia?

Edit: Obviously there's the rules too - but I think that goes without saying, but just thought I'd clarify!

O Captain, my captain

Finished up the captains I got from the recent made to order. Tried out the Vallejo True Metal Metallics on 3 of them and I think it’s pretty reasonable.

(cannot be bothered with potential drama in r/oldhammer even though these are from ‘91 originally)

90s Style Death Company and Chaplain

Given to me as a child, these death company marines and their chaplain are finally complete.

These were painted and assembled to very closely match the 90s version of the box art. Down to the rogue trader banner pole for the chaplain and the weapon load outs for the marines. There are obviously modern touches like the power sword shine on the weapons, the lack of boarder on the banner, and the plasma weapon's slight glow.

Overall, I am so happy with how these turned out. I think I have finally figured out a way of painting a black space marine I like quite a lot. I am very happy to add these to the growing 90s style Blood Angels army I have been building up.

Emperor's Children Land Raider

Made some extremely minor modifications to the lascannons of the original 1987 kit. The basic paint job is done and already wheeled it out for a game of OPR. Planning to add some spikes, skeletons, and maybe a bit of mud on the tracks

Limited edition games day '91 SM captain

So I've had this mini for many, many years.

Decided to paint him some time ago.

I've gone for a home brew legion: the "lost" 2nd legion, The Steel Hearts.

This mini also features a custom decal I created for their chapter emblem.

My take on a Firstborn Pedro Kantor (wait what's a Primaris?)

So memes aside, This was an idea I had the other day for a funny project to go with my all 2nd Edition Crimson fists project. I thought would be neat to make an almost entirely 1st and 2nd edition parts kitbash of Pedro Kantor and green stuff sculpt what ever details I wanted to add. The only acception is the crux terminatus because I know my limit lol. Eventually when I have time I'll paint him and share photos but my free time is very sporadic.

2nd edition Chaos Terminator, come meet Word Bearer Brother Exalted Malach Voss

Brother-Exalted Malach Voss of the XVII Legion is a fanatic, in a legion of fanatics.
He does not particularly care which false god is being worshipped. He simply believes all non-Chaos faiths are a personal insult directed at him specifically.
Imperial shrines, cathedrals, Aeldari spirit-temples, Ork idols, Tau motivational pamphlets, it makes no difference. If someone kneels before it, Voss will eventually arrive in a screaming wall of crimson ceramite to burn it with promethium, beat it flat, and bless the survivors to death with his sanctified power mace.
Other Word Bearers find him... difficult.
Dark Apostles have repeatedly attempted to explain that the Long War is about the glory of Chaos, not “winning arguments about religion,” but Voss remains unconvinced. During the Sack of Gathis VIII he reportedly abandoned a daemonic summoning because he spotted a Tech Priest carrying an instructional manual three kilometres away.
The Ultramarine helmet upon his trophy rack is said to belong to Captain Helion of the 3rd Company, who made the mistake of calling Voss “a bit intense” before being set on fire mid-sentence.

old cousins

in 1997 a friend involved me in some Space Hulk games with home rules: one terminator each, in collaboration, against a DM who used the Genesteelers. These are some of his models that I later inherited. Soon after, we started an army of Dark Angels together and although he quit, the army grew for another 14 years. But that way of playing Space Hulk was great.
