Is earning 8-9k a year realistic as a third level student?

I'm thinking of going back to college in 2027, I estimate my cost of living would be 13,000. With the susi grant and fees taken into consideration I need to earn 8 or 9 k in a year if I'm not to dip into savings or take out a loan.

Torn between going for a career in arboriculture or forestry, any advice?

I've been working as a groundie in arboriculture for two months now. I didn't expect to like the work as much as I do, love the physical outdoor work, how direct the task is, how simple it is and satisfying it feels doing a days work. Now I'm thinking the next step is to do the tree climbing course and earn more being a climber. But I'm also considering going back to college to study a degree in forestry.

Started working as a groundie, love it, how to get better, what are the next steps?

I've been at it two months now, thought I'd try it out, didn't expect to like the work as much as I do, love the physical outdoor work, how direct the task is, how simple it is and satisfying it feels doing a days work. I'd just like to now improve myself.

Getting a climber course is obviously the next big step but its expensive and I'm still debating if I want this to be my career, another options I'm debating on is going back to university to do a degree in forestry.

Just looking for some pointers for what I should be thinking about before deciding on applying to college for next year. If I am mad to do so at all.

It is to escape what I'm currently doing and get into a field I would find more fulfilling and suited to me rather than for the best earning potential. I'll probably be looking at 40-50k after a few years working in the industry if all goes well. And I don't think the pay goes much higher than that, 60k-70k at the highest positions.

Currently I don't feel I'm doing too great, compared to peers at least who are into the buying first homes phase of life. I'm on 38k, 31, single, renting in dublin, 40k in savings.

Living with folks won't be an an option if I go back to college. It would be a four year degree.

I feel pretty trapped as is, so I see this is my only option to get out and be happier, but I am worried about the finances and the long term, like giving up 4 years of earning now am I forcing myself into penury down the line, I live pretty tight as is.

In this hive there is 4cm space between the brood frames and floor. They've filled this out with brood comb that when i lift to inspect a frame i'm ripping the comb, worried I might crush the queen when returning the frames and other problems.

My solution is to put on a brood box on top of the excluder, when that's draw out remove the excluder, by the following week the queen should move up to the top box, I can put the excluder back where it was. When the bottom box is free of brood I'll remove that comb at the bottom, and replace the floor to a floor to give the proper bottom space.

Any one got a better idea?
