Luca Records. Waterford gem.

It’s hard to not give some props to Luca Records in town. Was back in there today, greeted by Ryan as always the second I came in the door. If I’m not mistaken it’s run by Ryan and his brother and you couldn’t meet nicer lads. A record shop where you can buy anything from techno, pop all the way to New York punk and hardcore aswell as your skating needs with some good coffee. One of the nicest staff members in the town and some small gigs thrown that always kick off and very rarely encounter arseholes at them. Caught my favourite band Civic all the way from Australia in that tiny intimate venue. I hope these boys keep going for a long time. A little independent shop like that is exactly what town has needed. I wish ye all the best going forward and I’ll definitely be supporting ye more as this cost of living crisis eventually levels out a bit. Best of luck with it all lads - Fishy.

Mount Congreve Gardens or Lismore Castle Gardens? (Co. Waterford)

I have one extra day of wiggle room in my Ireland trip this June/July. If you had to choose between Mount Congreve Gardens or Lismore Castle Gardens (both in Co. Waterford), which do you prefer and why? It's so hard to tell from photos online if one is preferable over the other.

Jobs in Waterford

Anyone else finding it extremely difficult to find a job in Waterford. Currently working in Infosys been here for a little over a year, trying to get out of this horror story of a place but it’s so difficult. Nothing on indeed or jobs.ie. Been applying all over the place for 6+ months only got one interview but the job was part time so couldn’t take it. Genuinely so stuck no clue where to go or what to do, going mental in this place.

I was curious here if anyone works remotely or hybrid and can find it lonely/isolating sometimes and would be interested in meeting up?

The Reality of Irish State Spending: €1.2 Billion (€3.29m a day) spent on IPAS accommodation in 2025 as costs rise to €99 per person a night.

I wanted to share the exact financial breakdown regarding the state’s current expenditure on international protection, as a lot of figures get thrown around in debates without proper sourcing.

According to official Oireachtas figures and recent government reports published earlier this year, the total state spend on IPAS accommodation and support services reached €1.2 billion for 2025.

The beast that returned

On Barrack Street where the sirens sing,
You’ll hear ten rumours before anything.
Someone’s yelling halfway down the road,
While a fella flies past on a stolen moped.

And deep at night, when the streetlights creak,
Locals whisper of the Beast of Barrack Street.
Not claws or teeth or glowing red eyes —
Just a lad in a Canada Goose asking for a light outside.
