I apparently have Pitr dosha and want to pacify it before it causes serious problems . But I came across a problem .

I was watching videos on how to do tarpan, pind Dana, etc, when I came across Rajarshi Nandy's video .

He said that only the eldest living male in the family/ head of family should do the rituals, even if it is for someone else, or the pitrs may take offense

The problem is that my grandfather and father are fully into trusting the divine to take care of things , and so they don't do the rituals, even though all the male children in our family have the dosha .

Even the annual pitru paksa rituals aren't done directly by them , they just pay a relative to do it .

I really want to get this sorted out . I have health problems due to this , although by the grace of my iṣṭa, saints and Kuldevi I have been spared the usual amount of pain that comes with my conditions .

I really don't want my ancestors to be dissatisfied, but I dunno what to do.

Question

Are Rajputs purely Patrilineal in terms of caste/ jati ering inherited by the Child ?

I'm a Maratha and AFAIK, in our community the child of a Maratha man is always* considered a Maratha, regardless of who the Mother is .

I assumed this was the same for Rajputs ( esp considering that Rajput kings often had queens and concubines from various castes) , and since many "lower" rungs of Rajputs claim descent from Rajput men and non-Rajput ladies .

But then I recently read that many desert tribes in Rajasthan claim that they are descendants of Rajput men but weren't accepted due to their mothers' castes ( regardless of whether this was factual or not , it indicates that clearly this was a believable enough situation for tribes to claim it)

So could anyone clarify here ?

* Provided the child was either born of a ritually married wife or the father openly accepted his child as his own if born of a concubine.
