Normal to feel like shit while on a deficit?

I’ve been on a deficit for the past three weeks eating about 1450-1500 calories a day. I thought it was going well because I honestly didn’t feel that hungry or anything.

Something I noticed was that I was having irregular bowel movements and feeling extremely dehydrated to the point of almost blacking out every time I stand up too fast and having really bad dehydration headaches in the middle of the night. Both things are not normal for me. I definitely know I don’t drink enough water in general (i’m trying to be better about that), but I never used to get those bad symptoms before the deficit when I was drinking the same amount of water.

However, a few days ago I had a series of days where I ate around my maintenance (1700-1800) and my bowel movements became regular and the dizziness/dehydration headaches stopped. It kinda got me thinking a bit.

Now that i’m back on the deficit, the symptoms have come back. I’m wondering if this is a normal part of weight loss or if this is something concerning. I’ve read before that deficits can cause constipation so that’s why i’m asking and I will definitely be drinking more water moving forward.

For reference i’m 5’6 (169cm) and 130lbs (59kg)

TLDR: Deficit causing irregular bowel movements and worsened dehydration symptoms. Is this normal?

EDIT: Hi guys thank you for all of your advice and support! I’m only trying to lose what I gained while overeating too much in college because honestly at the weight i’m at right now I don’t feel my best. Thank you for your concern about disordered eating though, but I promise it’s not that.

A lot of you have suggested electrolytes and being in a lower deficit, so I will definitely prioritize that. If anyone else has any advice about nutrition or anything else, i’m all ears :)

Transitioning from 2 Meals a Day to 3 Meals a Day

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always skipped breakfast because it makes me nauseous. Instead, Im used to having a big lunch and a big dinner.

For the past year, i’ve struggled with binge eating and have been trying for about a month to recover. I want to switch to having breakfast again so I don’t binge later in the day. However, It’s been a struggle because although eating smaller/regular sized meals satiates me physically, the mental part of of having smaller meals is triggering binges because it doesn’t “feel like enough” even though it is.

Ive tried volume eating, but it’s the same thing: because I know it’s not ACTUALLY a lot in retrospect, it triggers binges.

I wanted to know if anyone else struggled with this and how I might be able to overcome this. Thanks!!
