Weird buzzing

Recently attempted to shield my strat, and afterwards there is this weird buzzing alike to the buzzing the pickups make when a phone is close, but instead it’s all the time, and even when I touch the strings it doesn’t fully go away when beforehand the low level buzz would go away. I don’t think I shielded correctly as the copper shielding doesn’t rise up above the body. The buzzing also gets worse when I play the open strings hard sometimes, usually when my hand is near the strings. What should I do? Pickups I have: Jazzmaster neck, jaguar bridge in the middle and a humbucker in the bridge. Also the humbucker only sometimes cancels out the hum and since I have it set up so the jazzmaster and jaguar pickups are out of phase they aren’t hum cancelling.

Strat/Tele body annoyances

I have a strat and a tele and I have put jaguar pickup into them, but for some reason, the places where the screws go into the body are cutout, which has then meant that I’ve needed to lower the pickups which then makes the sound uneven compared to the other pickups. What is the best way to fix this? Adding a horizontal piece of wood underneath would fix the screw depth issue, but would then raise the pickup too high. I have an idea of making a piece of wood that is higher and thicker on the sides but then thin in the middle to allow space for the foam so that the pickup isn’t too high, so I’m going to try that. Before I try it though, is there a better way?

Jazzocaster

My first ever project and It took me 8 hours and I messed up a lot, still cool to try out tho and I think it’s funny that my first guitar only lasted 2 weeks before I cut it up

Cutting a pickguard

What is the best method for cutting a pickguard? I want to cut a pickguard in half, and I also want to make a new hole for a pickup, what tool should I use and what precautions should I take? Also I want to trim it down so after cutting I want to get a nice edge that looks factory grade, can that just be done by sanding/filing it down?

Squier jazzocaster

Hi, I am interested in putting half a jazzmaster pickguard and the neck pickup into a squier stratocaster. Where should I start and what should I look out for. I started playing a month ago but I have helped make a guitar before and my interest is heavily in the technical side of guitars which is why I want to do this passion project.

My main concerns are:

  • What pickup should I get, where to get.
  • Could there be issues with wiring?
  • Fitting the pickup into the body and how it would be secured.
  • How to make sure the pickguards line up.

I have photoshopped a concept rendition and attatched it (small watermark)
