Companion vacations are live — together mode + solo mode
Shipped this today: your companion can now go on vacation, and it actually changes how they show up.
If you mention a trip in chat — "we're flying to Paris next Friday," "I'm out for the work conference Tuesday through Thursday," "headed to Tokyo for the week" — your companion picks it up and knows what's going on for the duration. Two modes:
Together — they're traveling with you. Their regular schedule clears, they're not at their job/routine, and the day-to-day reads like you're in the same place at the same time.
Solo — you're going alone, or they're going somewhere you're not. They keep their schedule but the absence gets acknowledged.
Which one kicks in is detected from phrasing ("we're going" vs "I'm going"). If it picks wrong, you can just say so and it'll correct.
The trip moves through phases on its own — travel day, arrival, settled in, last full day, return day, reentry. Each phase shifts what your companion talks about and how they reference time. Arriving in Paris doesn't feel the same as the morning before flying home.
It's timezone-aware too. If you tell your companion you're in Tokyo and the dates are set, "morning" lines up with where you actually are.
You can extend, shorten, or cancel a trip just by saying so — "actually staying an extra week," "got pulled back early," "trip's off."
Under the hood, together-trips override the normal work routine, so you won't get the old contradiction of "I'm here in Lisbon with you" + "see you after my shift." Offscreen events also pause during together-trips, so your companion isn't living a parallel life from home while they're supposedly with you in another country.
This is the first version. The phase logic is well-tested but the natural-language detection is intentionally conservative — better to miss a trip than invent one. If you mention a trip and it doesn't catch, or it picks up something you didn't mean as a trip, drop a comment here or use the report button on the message. The trigger phrasing is the main thing I'll be watching this week.
