Since I’ve seen so many people in the BTBK vs LIC post mention JC, I’d figure I’d go ‘head and give the people THE REAL VERSES.
Now, this is very tricky. VERY Tricky imo. I know folks are gon have their own opinions, but for me….GIVE ME JC, but it a close second for DTBK. I honestly don’t know how to describe how JC’s skyline has grown into its own mini Miami, but it jus works. And, not to dawg on Brooklyn, but the access closer to the Hudson takes the cake for me.
And like I mentioned before, Downtown Brooklyn is a close second, but with all the major developments happenin’ in JC alone, I have it over DTBK.
But shit, what y’all think has the best skyline in the Tri-State outside of Manhattan? Les get this goin’ in da comments!
Ngl, as much as I love the developments happenin’ in Long Island City, I’m kinda gettin’ tired of the glass box buildings, but they have a nice feel to em. So for me, I gotta give it to Brooklyn because it balances the older art deco skyscrapers and with the newer additions, Eye of Sauron-I mean, Brooklyn Tower, The Brook, and so many others bein’ added in and along Downtown Brooklyn, definitely stands out more than the glass boxes in LIC.
It’s kinda nice watchin’ the unique energy of Brooklyn and Queens grow. While Manhattan will always be the iconic heart of the city, those who live in Brooklyn and Queens have watched their downtowns grow and develop in their own way.
One of my favorite new projects outside of Manhattan is Domino Square in Williamsburg, and I love how other developments along the waterfront, like Greenpoint up to Hunters Point, are crafting their own identities. It is inspirin’ to see both of these boroughs shine in their own way, creating a rich tapestry that makes New York City a nice place to visit one day.
If I ever go to NYC, I DON’T WANNA BE NEAR ANY OF THE TOURIST ATTRACTIONS! I wanna feel the local scene of each borough, and not no overpriced attraction bullshit.
And again, credit to all of the fantastic photographers who took these awesome shots of DTBK and LIC over the past year or two. Y’all take some dope ass pics, fr.
But anyway, les get this discussion goin’ in the comments.

Ion know how FlyNYC did it, but this is an AMAZIN’ SHOT of New York City! So freakin’ Iconic! The Mecca: New York City!!! Also if y’all know what the title means, mad credit to y’all!
Also credit to the amazin’ and talented FlyNYC!!!
I know JC ain’t really underrated when it comes to havin’ it’s own skyline, but bein’ so damn close to Manhattan, its one of those US cities to where it punches above its own weight both in population and in the economic scene, while it also ain’t to outshine Manhattan, but it also kinda is in its shadow.
Hell it’s even kinda got its own Midtown with the rise of Journal Square on top of the hill, and the skyline keeps on growin’, too. Lookin’ like a Mini Miami.
Am I the only one who thinks that, as well, or do some of y’all agree. Les get this discussion goin’, y’all!
Credit to the photographers and professional drone pilots who these really nice shots of the ever-growin’ Jersey City Skyline.

Happen to come across this on the ATX’s twitter page and wanted to share it here. If y’all look closely, y’all can see The State Capitol buildin’ and UT Tower in the background.
If the person who took this really nice shot please forgive me, because I completely forgot your user tag. Amazin’ shots, tho.
With my birthday comin’ up on July 31st, I wanted to show y’all how much Austin has completely changed in my almost 25 years of livin’ in my great home state of Texas. Ion think I’ve ever seen such a dramatic change of a skyline since Dallas and Houston did back in the 70s and 80s.
Ian from Austin, but I’m a HUGE UT Fan, HOOK EM, and seein’ a skyline that’s changed within a lifespan is insanity!
Credit to the people who took these photos of the skyline all the way back from ‘01 to now.

In my honest opinion for a long time, I loved Lower Manhattan, but now Midtown’s really startin’ to get me to like that part of Manhattan more. And with possibly another major skyscraper boom comin’ up soon, I just gotta give it to Midtown. Plus my favorite 21st-century tower, 270 Park Ave., gracefully balanced out the super pencil-thin towers. 520 Fifth Ave bein’ a runner up to that beautiful Monolith.
History can also be a factor to both, since Midtown has the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings, but I still have love for the fallen Singer Building that once stood beautifully in Lower Manhattan, ‘FORE THEY RAISED THAT AMAZIN’ PIECE OF ART FOR A UGLY ASS BOX!!!
And don’t get me started on 26-Nah Ian e’en gon say the name, cuz thas how much I HATE THAT UGLY ASS PENCIL TOWER ON FIFTH AVE!!! FUCK!!!
But anyway, let’s get this discussion goin’ fore I blow another gasket.
Also, MAD credit to my fellow Discord server member Ton618 or NewYorkCity76 in the YimbyFroums site for takin’ these two immaculate photos of Lower and Midtown Manhattan. I had to use Google for the other Lower Manhattan photo to not have the rest of Midtown in the shot, but I digress.

On July 3rd, 2026, the City of Toronto and North York have filed an approval of the redevelopment. The actual date of when construction will start has not yet been determined, but this is monumental for what was once supposed to be the tallest building in the city, but was scrapped because of The Great Depression.
What a monumental milestone for the city of Toronto, and even tho this Reddit has seen enough Toronto shit for the past Month and a half, I’m a huge fan of this project, and I’ve never even set foot in the city. I live in Texas (Best State, and home state), but this project along with Forma is among my favorites happenin’ in the city right now. Congrats, Toronto!
If y’all want more details about this project, check out UrbanToronto, and also follow the project closely on the Skyscrapers Discord!

Ever since I could remember, and bein born and raised here in Abilene, I’ve always had a love for the architecture scene within my hometown.
From the historic buildings in Downtown, to the iconic churches and landmarks sprinkled across the cityscape, and also livin’ on the eastside of town in the heights made me appreciate the architecture more and more as I grew older.
All of these shots were taken by me via iPhone 16 Pro with a little edits.
With numerous projects underway across the city’s six boroughs, I would like to emphasize on the developments happenin in the burbs. From Mississauga, to Vaughan, Brampton, Pickering, and ofc Hamilton. Still tryin’ to figure out why Hamilton’s separated from the main GTA and has be to called GTHA…..my fellow Canadians, help a brother out, please, cuz I’m a bit perplexed about this. These projects include:
M City Development (Mississauga)
Exchange Place (Mississauga)
7Central (Vaughan)
Television City (Hamilton)
Rose Gardens Residencies (Brampton)
Again, thanks to all the great people in the GTHA takin’ these awesome photos of the developments happenin’ within the region. Y’all are the best! With that said, what are some of y’all’s favorite projects thus far? And which project that I have not covered yet is your favorite? Let’s talk in the comments!
Howdy, y’all! I’m Lo-FiJay, and I’m one of the owners who manages the Skyscrapers Discord server. I had this idea a while back to start a subreddit alongside the Discord server, and I even mentioned it in 2023. But, I decided to put that idea on hold at that tome.
Then, in early September of last year, a fellow reddit member here in the Subreddit messaged me about startin’ an r/skyscrapers Discord server. I was a bit unsure at first, but I decided to give it a shot. And now, we’re here!
With almost 600 skyscraper fans in our server, I never thought the community on this subreddit or my Discord server would get so big. I’m so thankful that these communities can hang out on different platforms and work together on something totally new in a Discord server.
I won’t go into all the specifics of our server, but I can tell you that we have a fantastic community on Discord full of projects that don’t really get enough attention in other communities, besides this, and we even sometimes host events, contests for those who want their own photo of a skyscraper as the server’s profile picture and cover photo -that’s if we get more boosters- and more!
And thanks to Cat Attak for pingin’ this post for the community to see! So if you like the Subreddit and want to know more about the Discord server, click here! We’re aimin’ to reach level 3 boosted so that we can have our own custom link, just in case the older links time out in the future!

Crazy to think this view was completely different a few years ago. Toronto's skyscraper boom is unmatched in North America in the 2020s
