Just 100%ed the game, considering multiplayer

What an absolute blast. Easily one of my favorite games of all time. Once you get the hang of the controls, it controls like a dream, with equally strong story, level design, and characters. I'm not usually much of a completionist, but the S-ranks and log hunt were a great time too.

That said, I'm usually a single-player only type of gal. Prone to tilt, mostly. So my question is, should I bother with the online? Is it a meat grinder? Will people generally be nitpicking every little detail of my playstyle in DMs after a match? Different games have different cultures, basically.

If it's chill, I might take the plunge, but I want to get a vibe check from the people already immersed in the online scene. I'm on PS5 if that matters.

The real reason every single new Star Wars thing is so controversial has nothing to do with quality or Disney

Star Wars is a setting, not a formula.

From A New Hope to The Acolyte to Skeleton Crew, this setting can host a ton of varied stories, each of which engage with in-universe concepts and tropes differently.
Are Jedi virtuous knights? A flawed religious order? A scattered band of superpowered mystics, some good, some not-as-good, some bad? One guy? Two? Depends who you ask and when. All of the above. Depends on the story being told.

Most oldhead (said with affection) fans became fans when Star Wars was more of a monolith, and tuned their analysis to try to find true, final, objective readings of everything in the story. Now, the Original Trilogy is much more clearly simply a Luke-focused tale, from his perspective, centered around his journey, both spiritual and emotional. That will absolutely have differences from an Anakin-focused story, or an Osha-focused one, or a Wim-focused one.

To give another example, Boba Fett. Wanna see him be a near-silent badass? That’s how he looked in Luke’s story. Wanna see him as a mysterious warrior? Din’s story. How about as a guy with feelings and goals? His story. It’s not a flaw or some kind of stupid mistake that these three characterizations were different, as many online have expressed issue with.

Additionally, most of the “writing problems” that people will berate in various projects will inevitably only grate when the project itself is seen as “wrong” to them. “Good Star Wars” has that goofy Jabba barge scene, “Bad Star Wars” has a cyborg spin with a gun. “Good Star Wars” has a comparatively inexperienced Luke beat the fully-trained Darth Vader in a fair duel (with many explanations and factors explaining why), “Bad Star Wars” has the comparatively inexperienced Rey survive against the mostly-trained Kylo Ren in a fair duel (with many explanations and factors explaining why). It’s all bias.

All Star Wars is goofy, it all has silly little editing moments that fans will endlessly construct Watsonian explanations for, it all has some dialogue that’s silly, or quotable, or both.

Once you come to appreciate that, and appreciate Star Wars as a setting for a lot of varied stories and themes, it really does regain its magic.

To every “Disney Bad” fan: It’d be more effective and less demoralizing to all involved, including you, to focus on pushing for your preferred stories, rather than bitching about every single new thing because it doesn’t feel like Luke’s story did. That’s not a flaw.

Also, go watch The Acolyte. It fucks.

Heya, I’m Kazzie (she/her)! I’m 29, EST time zone, and I’m looking for some friends to chat and game with!
As far as multiplayer goes, I’m mainly into various shooters (mainly for the chill co-op experience).
Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Marvel Rivals have been the biggest for me lately, but I’ve dabbled in some Deep Rock Galactic, some CoD, and I’m down to download just about anything, especially if it’s cheap.
Can’t promise I’ll be great at them, but it can be fun to queue up and vibe with a consistent group!

As far as other interests go, I love single-player 3d action games of all sorts, especially ones like Ghost of Yōtei, Bayonetta, Jedi Survivor, and Dragon’s Dogma. I’m also big into all sorts of RPGs, especially ones with deep character customization and high-energy action combat.

I’m a poly housewife, so my schedule’s all over the place, but I’m down to chat on Discord, Tumblr, Bluesky, etc.
