A Bison Brute attacked my Fortress, and I sent vampires with hammers out to face it!

Take a look to see what happens! If you're wondering why I used hammerdwarves, we're in a Reanimator Biome. If we didn't mangle the corpse, it would have come back as a Zombie Bison Brute, which would have been terrifying!

It's just a wall of gems! How dangerous can it be?

It turns out, quite dangerous indeed! There's a clown that emerges with deadly dust with the "bleed out of every orifice until you die" disease! And a lot more!

Improving the quality of (un)life for my most monstrous dwarves

This episode I took a lot steps to try and improve the quality of life for my vampires and werebison, one of which was building a big swimming pool to teach my vampires new life skills! Check it out at The latest Dwarf Fortress episode is up on Youtube! https://youtu.be/51SM6enhwgQ

This Reanimator Biome Got Hands!

Between Giant Zombie Blue Jays, a Fell Mood, plots to steal our treasures and goblins, this episode kicked my ass!

Lessons learned (Reanimator Biome and Dead Civ)

For context, I stream this fort every Wednesday at 7:30pm Central.

The fortress of Doomslayer is a group of the last few dwarves of an extinct civilization going to a Reanimator Biome to make sure their people go out with a bang.

After three streams, I've learned some useful stuff:

  1. Zombies no longer seem intent on automatically wiping out all life, but being on the map will still cause plenty of problems. This may be dependent on species, as I've seen zombie giant foxes just appear from the edge and make a beeline for dwarves going out to fetch supplies

  2. Migrant waves can appear, and will do so even after the obligatory two waves. Despite having no Sites and only one dwarf remaining, we are now over 50 in number.

  3. Zombie animals can be butchered once they've been appropriately mangled. My hammer dwarves practiced on the local emu corpses. I expected to maybe get some bones, a skull, maybe some feathers.

What I got was a full set of organs, nervous tissue, and far more meat than I expected. Since meat is partly tied to strength, and becoming a zombie increases your strength, it's likely that this could be used as a way to preserve vast quantities of immortal meat.

Fortress of Doomslayer Episode 2: The Emu Wars

In this episode, we tackle the ongoing zombie emu menace with as many dwarves as we can spare, which is not many! Can we stem the tide, or will our 13 dwarves need to come up with other options?

(Using a dying Civ, set in a reanimator biome)

The Fortress of Doomslayer: Dying Civ, Reanimator Biome

Hi there!

I've recently started a new series on Twitch and Youtube, wondering what challenge I could set myself.

This will be the story of The Avalanche of Figures, a civilization with a population of 1, with no sites. Their queen, Tekkud Dancerims, has decided to scrape together the last hidden remnants of her people, and go deep into a dead forest, where cursed smoke billows, and zombie emus roam through brittle, dead trees, so her people may seek a worthy death, slaying as many evils of the world as possible. To burn out, rather than fade away.

To this end, they named their fortress Okbodtharnas: Doomslayer.

Strike the earth!
