Divot - is GolfSimulator ruining my swing?

When I fat a shot off a mat on my simulator, OUCH. When I take a normal divot off the mat, it's not as clean a shot (as it is scuffed from hitting the mat).

So effectively I'm conditioned to just brush the mat, as the best shot, and not take a divot.

The mindset of not hitting the mat/ground I think is causing me to Thin it when on a real course, particularly when dealing with different lies.

I'm hitting off a GoSports Elite.

I've seen a lot of talk of hitting strips, SigPro, BeaverTail, Fibrebuilt, and DIY Action Mat...

Do any of them allow you to take a REAL divot?

I've read about them being grabby, providing some levels of bounce, but for those who spend as much time outside as inside, do these hitting strips ENCOURAGE you to hit the ball with a divot?

Thanks

Impact Location - how?

With a Square LM (not Omnia) how is everyone measuring Impact Location?

- footspray or dry shampoo, I'd be concerned would leave that product on the screen

- impact tape transfer ink to the ball, arguably even worse than the footspray.

Or are you just doing without this information?

Thanks

I'm a beginner. My wife wants to buy me a golf watch as a birthday present. I think I'm a bit too early in my journey for too many stats, I've only played a few rounds!!

I currently use a phone app for distances, not having to get a phone out when on the course would be nice.

I'd like it to show hazards, dog legs etc.

I don't want it to be overly confusing.

I would like a club suggestion, I won't take it as gospel but helpful to know.

I don't want too much faff basically.

Budget is around £250.

Thanks.
