Do you think Indian drivers would accept telematics-based car insurance if it meant paying less?

Do you think Indian drivers would accept telematics-based car insurance if it meant paying less?

For those unfamiliar, Usage-Based Insurance (UBI) uses a smartphone app or telematics device to measure your driving behaviour (such as braking, acceleration, speed, and distance driven). Safer driving can lead to lower insurance premiums.

Would you be comfortable with this if it meant paying less? Why or why not?

Do you think Indian drivers would accept telematics-based car insurance if it meant paying less?

For those unfamiliar, Usage-Based Insurance (UBI) uses a smartphone app or telematics device planted in your car, to measure your driving behaviour (such as braking, acceleration, speed, and distance driven).

If you drive safely according to the app/device, your premiums are lower.

Some companies like Edelweiss, Acko etc. do provide it as an option but very few adopters.

For anybody here who has tried this out or actively uses it, what has your experience been?

What is the one underrated app that you use during driving?

For the long-distance and road-trip drivers here:

What's the most underrated app you use while driving apart from the obvious ones like Google Maps, Spotify, etc.?

For example, I occasionally use Radarbot for speed camera and speed limit alerts.

Looking for lesser-known apps that are genuinely useful on Indian roads—navigation, fuel, tolls, vehicle diagnostics, road conditions, anything.

Would love to discover a few hidden gems.

Can most drivers judge their own driving skill?

Genuine question:

Do you think most drivers can accurately judge their own driving skill?

Every driver I know thinks they're above average.

But if you put 10 drivers on the same 300 km highway trip, what would actually separate the best driver from the worst one?

Smoothness?

Anticipation?

Speed discipline?

Something else?

Curious to hear what this community thinks.
