What exactly is the benefit here

Why is the left side of this box that leads to the air filter so open? I'm no mechanic, but would there be any benefit or downside to partially block some of that openness to have more of the air from the grille pushed through to the air filter?

On the 26 GLI, the air comes in from the passenger side of the grille since the drivers side is blocked off, and with that, it would seem that in order for air to make it to the air filter, only what doesn't shoot straight in through the gap, then turns right, then down, then up again actually makes it to the air filter, and then turbo..

New to the club

Traded my 2012 TDI wagon for a new manual GLI and loving it so far!

My past 2 cars have been black so I'm happy with this red GLI. Initially, I wasnt planning on the red until I saw it in person and really liked it after that.

Will be all over the maintenance on this one as I really want to hang on to this car for a LONG time.

Couple of questions

I have a 2025 Sport Scout Limited Plus Tech.

The GPS has never been able to find me outside of once, around the time I bought the bike, but it still shows I'm in the same spot, when in fact I am not there.

Its been in that same spot for months no matter where I ride, but I live in a fairly populated town/city and it should be able to have a decent connection. Anyone know what might fix this? Ill likely mention it to the dealer for the break in service (I'm at 500 miles) but thought maybe there's an easy answer.

2nd question, what's the MPG yall are getting cause my bike is always saying 30mpg on the nose and doesn't seem to change even when I reset the trip on it. I do ride in sport mode, but even when I rode in standard for the day, it still showed 30mpg on the nose. Is this fairly typical of a Scout? Its my first bike and I can say I was actually expecting quite a bit better fuel economy than 30..
