If you’re a disabled veteran, thank you for your service. However it doesn’t entitle you to faster service, especially for a non emergency.

Had a call where a guy was irritated about some kids making loud noise (I guess he had an argument with the parents and the parents told their kids to go outside and make a bunch of noise in retaliation, super petty stuff). Anyway he called and asked for an officer, I said cool and sent the officer. Officer finishes what he’s doing and makes his way to the other end of town where this is, obviously not speeding or anything, guy then calls back and tells me to let the officer know that he’s a disabled veteran and that he “doesn’t want to have to handle this himself” so I do just that and tell the officer (who’s on his way) and he got a chuckle out of it and continued on his way *at the speed limit and obeying traffic laws because it wasn’t an emergency.* That line had nothing to do with the call whatsoever and was 100% unnecessary.

That’s like the second or third time I’ve had someone use that line. The other I can remember is that a weed farm was burning stalks and other waste products (as they’re legally required to do) and he didn’t like the smell and wanted us to do something about it cause he’s a disabled veteran, per his own words.

Had a call that made all this worth it. Deputy pulled a car over that ended up getting towed and the driver happened to pull into the parking lot for a wrecker company who’s owners lived on site so I had a good laugh when I called the guy and he said he’s been watching the traffic stop and waiting for the call. Anyone have similar stories?
