What was the rationale behind modern rulership?

I am looking into the dignity scheme and rulership. Basically, I have a hypothesis that the modern rulership scheme can be disproven. But a major sticking point is, I am not clear on who introduced the scheme, and don’t understand their rationale.

From what I can tell, the choice was based on aesthetic - the style of the signs whose rulership was changed, ‘fit’ better with a new planet.

Was there any reason beyond this? Traditional rulership has very distinct aspect patterns in the dignity scheme. Does modern rulership have anything more technical beyond vibes?

gaining momentum and curiosity

I’ve been having a good couple of weeks & want to celebrate it with people here.

I went on an interstate trip visiting multiple friends, including going to a huge party last minute. Overall on the trip, I was pretty present, kind with myself, able to name things I needed or wanted, and did my best to take care of myself.

In general, I have been showing up a lot and challenging avoidance. What I’ve been working on recently is to take simple helpful actions as soon as I think about them. Even more recently, I’ve been able to plan ahead. In the past, I would often push myself to act on projects as soon as possible, because I would have a loss of momentum if I waited, whereas simple day-to-day behaviors would be put off or ignored entirely.

I’ve had so many discrete lovely moments; doing outdoorsy hobbies, making art in nature, going out with friends. It‘s hard to describe, but I think people here will understand; the actual experiences are really important and fun and cool, but what’s really incredible simply being able to DO things, and do them without a huge amount of thinking or planning. Even cancelling some plans, not out of avoidance but out of being realistic about my time and energy, and understanding how I can best show up for myself and my friends.

I’ve commented here a fair bit, sharing that I’m someone who considers themselves recovered or in active recovery from AVPD. I still experience avoidance, social anxiety, and other aspects of AVPD, but not in a way that prevents me from experiencing and enjoying my life.

I talk and think a lot about progress, but all that really matters is that we’re taking as good care of ourselves as we can and being kind to ourselves. I know that for many of us, the absolute smallest thing can be a huge challenge - taking a sip of water, logging into a site to do an administrative task, stepping out the door, even getting out of the bed in the morning (or afternoon, or evening, or in the middle of the night). In this space, there is literally no action too small to recognize. I hope anyone who is struggling can read this and let go of any amount of shame or judgment you might be feeling about yourself. Very few people without AVPD will understand how hard your life can be, because the reason for our struggle is so invisible to most people. You deserve to been seen for every effort you’ve made, many of which you may struggle to see clearly, and I’m proud of you.

Temporary cover for a leaking window

New home purchase - the previous owner covered the weeping holes of a window and it’s leaking inside. I’m getting a new window installed in a couple weeks, but in the meantime need a way to cover the window or divert water when it rains. I can soak up water/use a dehumidifier/wet dry vac, but would prefer to just not have water come inside in the first place.

Asking because I’m looking this up and similar posts I’m finding are referring to things like managing temperature, or are about car or van windows.

I am thinking of getting a shower curtain and taping it to the outside with a waterproof sealing tape. I saw a post recommending to use a board to nail the tarp in place. I want to minimize damage to the exterior.

how to travel?

hello, i’m wondering if there are people here who are experienced/have advice for how to travel (w/in the us). as in: booking air travel, how to navigate a new city on a short trip. i’m asking here because, ig i see my total lack of experience as stemming from having AVPD, and i think people who can relate would better understand what would help me navigate this as a new experience.

nervous system healing

i am curious about how many other people here are aware of things like nervous system healing or somatic health?

i see a lot of us talk about the social symptoms of AVPD - struggling at work or in school, lack of connections etc. as well, mentioning the personal experiences that lead to this, often poor life conditions especially in childhood or adolescence.

however mechanically, what we suffer from is biological and chemical. the fear and panic is coming from our nervous system. the negative self image is just deeply engrained neural pathways.

as someone who healed myself using these kinds of concepts, i wish i was knowledgeable enough right now to coherently give some kind of explanation or primer. as it stands, i’m curious about whether there are other people here who have looked into topics like:

parasympathetic nervous system healing

somatic work

expanding their window of tolerance

neural pathway redevelopment

do terms like ‘psoas muscle, vagus nerve, hypertonic pelvic floor’ mean anything to you (in connection to your ability to feel safe, secure, grounded et.) ?

my experience has been that it helped a lot to have a way to feel better that was detached from the stories about my life. this isn’t about finding a way to go to that party or apply for a job. it was about finding a way to stop hearing agonized screaming thoughts in my head all of the time, and realizing i was in extreme physical discomfort all of the time because i always felt unsafe and could not settle in my body. do other people feel similarly?
