[Transfer Talk Thread] Can we get a 9-nouncement? August 19th - 25th, 2026

With just about 2 weeks left for the transfer window to shut, things have started to heat up. With Barcelona sealing loan deals for ter Stegen and Araujo and bringing in Rodri and Cancelo successfully, the entire focusshifts on our striker signing. The departure of Ferran Torres has added mpore fuel and urgency to that fire. With each passing day, Julian to Barca is looking more and more unlikely and while club sources say they have a Plan B ready to go, nobody knows who that is. Along with that, a potential CB signing and a few departures are still on the agenda

Is this the week we get a definite breakthrough in our search for a number 9? Will we get any news about a defence signing? Will Casado's future finally get resolved this week? Will Atleti let go of their hostage player Julian Alvarez?

Tune into this transfer thread to find out the answer to all this and much more.

This thread is dedicated to all transfer-related news.

Only Tier 2+ sources will be listed in the description, but feel free to list all sources you find in the comments.

Marcus Rashford June 10 ❌ Barça will not exercise the option to buy Marcus Rashford. The Blaugrana club has not completely ruled out the possibility of pursuing the English player again under different conditions and if other market circumstances arise. - Matteo Moretto (Tier 1)
Kang-In Lee June 17 ❌ Deco had a meeting with his agent. There are no plans for a transfer bid or any ongoing negotiations involving the South Korean international, although the sporting director is keeping an eye on him. - Carlos Monfort (Tier 1)

August 16 João Cancelo has parted ways with Al Hilal and is set to return to Barcelona as a free agent. - Fernando Polo (Tier 1)
Cristian Romero July 30 ❌ Hansi Flick is happy with the squad he has and would only consider signing a new center back if a player were to leave before the transfer window closes, which seems unlikely at this point. - Ferran Correas (Tier 2)
Julián Álvarez July 30 ✅ Although the operation has become increasingly complicated in recent days, contacts between Álvarez's camp and Barca continue. The intention is to patiently conclude the agreement while the sports department continues to explore alternatives. - Carlos Monfort (Tier 1)

Alejandro Baldé June 23 ❌ Despite the competition posed by the possible arrival of Jorge Salinas and João Cancelo, Balde has no plans to leave, as he is confident he can compete for a starting spot. - Ferran Correas (Tier 2)
Raphinha June 28 ❌ Raphinha's move to Saudi Arabia is getting complicated. Al-Hilal is now turning its attention to Salah. - Joaquim Piera (Tier 2)
Héctor Fort July 12 ❌ Fort is prioritizing Barça. The fullback wants to convince Flick and will fight for a spot during preseason. - Carlos Monfort (Tier 1)
August 15 Borussia Dortmund have already held talks over Héctor Fort and are currently the best-positioned club to sign him. He would look favourably on a move to the PL, but as things stand, BVB are the club showing the most concrete interest.
Tommy Marques August 17 Barça will receive €10M plus €2M in add-ons from Tommy Márques’ permanent move to SC Braga. The 19-year-old midfielder has said yes to Braga’s proposal, with a deal now in place for his exit.
Roony Bardghji July 18 ✅ The Swedish forward knows he’s not in Flick’s plans, but he still hasn’t finalized his departure from Barca. The club favors a transfer with a buyback clause, but the player prefers a loan so he won’t be permanently released. - Ferran Correas (Tier 2)
Andreas Christensen July 24 ✅ It's true that he renewed his contract with Barca, but not 100% convinced that he'll stay - Matteo Moretto (Tier 1)
Marc Casadó July 18 ✅ De Jong's injury doesn't change Barça's plans with Casadó. Although he hasn't found a way out yet, Flick isn't counting on him and has enough midfielders to make up for Frenkie's very likely absence. - Fernando Polo (Tier 1)
August 17 Marc Casadó is next on the exit ramp after Tommy Marques. Despite all the rumors, there are no negotiations for Casadó to join Al Hilal. Although, his agent Jorge Mendes is assessing several options to decide his future. - Matte Moretto (Tier 1)
July 28 ✅ Barcelona is asking for 40 million, Flick still considers him available for transfer, and Jorge Mendes is reviewing offers for the midfielder - Fernando Polo (Tier 1)
Jules Koundé July 21 ❌ Barring an unexpected turn of events, it seems increasingly likely that he will remain in his position. - Carlos Montfort (Tier 1)

Key: ✅ = Source supporting the possibility of transfer.

❌ = Source not supporting the possibility of transfer.

➡️ = Transfer completed.

r/Barca 2026 World Cup Predictions Tournament & Fantasy League

The World Cup is here, and with several Barça players set to feature throughout the tournament, we wanted to give the community a way to follow the action together beyond the match threads.

We'll be running both a Predictions Tournament and an official r/Barca Fantasy League throughout the competition. Given that the tournament consists of 104 matches, we've opted for a format that keeps participation accessible while still covering the fixtures most relevant to the Barça community.

Predictions Tournament

Group Stage & Round of 32

  • All matches featuring teams with FC Barcelona players will be included in the predictions tournament.

Round of 16 Onwards

  • Every remaining match in the competition will count.

A Google Form will be posted before each matchday containing all eligible fixtures for that round. Users will submit their predictions once per matchday. The link to both the Prediction Form and Fantasy League will be pinned on the Open Thread.

Scoring

  • Correct match result (Win/Draw/Loss): 5 points
  • Correct goals scored/conceded: 3 points
  • Correct Tournament Winner prediction: 10 points
  • Correct POTT predicitions: 10 points
  • Correct Golden Boot prediction: 5 points
  • Correct Golden Glove prediction: 5 points
  • Correct Young POTT predicition: 5 points

Tournament Winner, POTT, YPOTT, Golden Glove and Golden Boot predictions will be collected through a separate one-time registration form before the tournament begins.

Leaderboards

We'll be tracking:

  • An overall tournament leaderboard.
  • Individual matchday winners.

Predictions Forms:

Round 1 Prediction form - https://forms.gle/m232T3a8fgNNa2mq9

Overall Tournament Predictions - https://forms.gle/SsVLmhVLpuP5c7kY8

______________________________________

Fantasy League

Alongside the predictions tournament, we'll also be running an official r/Barca Fantasy League for the World Cup.

Code - B729QLPV

Important Notes

  • Prediction forms will close shortly before the first included fixture of each matchday kicks off.
  • Only submissions received before the deadline will be counted.
  • Eligible fixtures for each matchday will be clearly listed in the prediction thread.

We hope this format strikes the right balance between keeping the competition engaging while avoiding the logistical nightmare of predicting all 104 matches.

Good luck, and Visca el Barça!
