Is it weird or acceptable to hire a mentor? Like meet 2 x's a month.

Applying for a job. Hoping and praying I get an interview. But, I realize I don't meet all of the requirements because I'm coming from an outside industry.

To make sure I succeed, I want to hire a mentor that is in a similar role but a VERY different state/company so still removed from my company.

Thoughts?

in [FL]

I applied for a job today. There was no closing date. How long do most jobs stay posted before they start interviewing candidates and remove the ad?

I'm trying to gauge when they will start interviewing.

Also, when potential start date is.

Please be nice. I know I probably won't get an interview. I'm just trying to see what the general process is for companies overall.

Ph.D. or Ed.D

I'm really wanting to get a doctorate degree at Liberty. My goal is to work at the college level as either the Director of Career Services or Dean of a Dept./College. Which degree would be best to achieve this goal?

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Higher Education Administration - Leadership

Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Higher Education Administration - Leadership

Also, how do you pay for the degree? It's so expensive. I want to go at an accelerated rate. But, I don't qualify for discount, no veteran, etc.

Emailing HR - yes or no? N/A remote but I live in [FL]

I could use some advice from hiring managers and recruiters.

I applied for a temporary, part-time position that I was genuinely excited about because I believe I'm an excellent fit for the role. Interestingly, the job posting was removed about three hours after I applied.

Nine days ago, I emailed HR with a question because the posting didn't specify the number of hours. The HR representative responded and was very nice.

Six days ago, I emailed again regarding my references. I hadn't included them with my application because I didn't want my references to be contacted unless I was truly being considered or shortlisted. I've been a reference many times myself, and I've been contacted countless times for one former employee (I own my own business). I didn't want to put my own references through that if it wasn't necessary, so I skipped adding references in the application process. But, 6 days ago, I emailed HR asking if I should submit references via email because I didn't want to not be considered for doing that, etc.

I really want this job. At this point, would it be appropriate to send a brief follow-up asking whether there have been any updates on my application or the hiring timeline? Or would that be too much since I've already emailed twice?

I'd appreciate any honest feedback from people involved in hiring.

Weston Higginbothom

Such sad news that Weston's body was found. Was really hope he would be found safe.

What are you guys thinking about the case? Do you think more will come out?
