Rude children in North Texas

New here, and I’ve noticed the kids are just… rude to adults.

Running back and forth in checkout lines without saying “excuse me.”
Stepping over adults’ feet without saying "excuses me."
Walking on the sidewalk on the wrong side or taking up the whole side in group and acting like they don’t have to move.
Giving little weird looks.
Being loud and irritating in close spaces.

I thought the South believed in home training…

When did Ollama become so cool with non self hosted models?

It feels like Ollama’s brand identity has shifted. It used to be centered on self‑hosted models, but now most of the new releases seem to be API‑based services with far more emphasis on cloud integrations than local hosting. Open WebUI appears to be moving in the same direction. The whole ecosystem feels like it’s drifting from “self‑hosted freedom” toward “paid AI service referrals.”It makes me wonder whether the original “free and local” philosophy is being sidelined in favor of business plans waiting in the background. And once investors start demanding returns, will self‑hosting get deprioritized even further?

Constant Sales Calls From Tech Vendors — Is This Normal?

Lately I’ve been getting nonstop calls from different companies trying to pitch their tech products to JPMC. Every other day someone is trying to get me to schedule a demo, and some even try to keep me on the phone until I accept a calendar invite sent to my JPMC email.

I have no idea how these companies got my phone number. I’m not even in a role that makes purchasing decisions — I’m new, and nowhere near the level that evaluates vendors.

Is this normal for people working in tech? Do these companies just scrape LinkedIn and start cold‑calling anyone with “JPMC” in their profile?

Plano Campus Walking Culture – Walking on the Wrong Side

What’s up with the Plano campus walking culture? I'm new here.

People:

  • Walking on the left side of the sidewalk
  • Walking in groups shoulder‑to‑shoulder and taking up the entire sidewalk
  • Turning left around corners without looking ( especially at the starbucks and at elevators)
  • Standing directly in front of elevator doors
  • Walking into the elevator before people can get off
  • Having conversations in the middle of the walkway
  • Holding big group conversations blocking doorways

What's the DEAL???

Am I wrong, should I walk on the left now???

Plano office Sun Shade.. eye pain.

Building F. Someone new changed seats in the Plano office and the area gets intense sun after 10am. They prefers the shades fully open, but the reflection hits my eyes directly. Friday it caused enough strain that my eyes are still hurting today (Sunday).

I closed the shade. Came back after lunch and they opened them back up.

Any solution. Anyone dealt with this? Not trying to go blind.

My left eye, the one getting the direct sun is hurting bad.

Are graded coins worth it on the sale side?

I always see graded coins at the LCS. Sometimes they sell them for spot, sometimes with a small premium. I was in a shop Friday and all they had were graded coins in plastic — all the BU were gone. I've sold plain American Eagles before, but do you get back that graded premium when you sell? Is it harder to sell? I saw a 1 oz AE graded at $300 over spot.

Anyone with experience selling graded coins?

Gold Jewelry is a Scam, and I'm the biggest sucker

I know gold. I know weights, karats, spot price — all of it. And I know that every time I buy a piece of gold jewelry, I’m getting 100% scammed… but I still can’t help myself.

My latest piece:
10K, 8‑inch rope bracelet, 5.7 grams — $554.00

Actual gold content:

  • 10K = 41.7% pure
  • 5.7g × 0.417 = 2.38 grams of pure gold
  • Melt value ≈ $342

That means I paid a $235 premium on top of the gold value. Ridiculous.

For the same money, I could’ve bought a 1/10 oz American Eagle, gotten 3.39 grams of pure gold, and still saved about $74.

Honestly, I could’ve bought a gold‑plated silver bracelet on Amazon for $34, had more gold content, and still kept $40 in my pocket.

Anyone else have gold addiction.

I know gold is supposed to be an investment, but is anybody else addicted to gold—like just loving holding all your coins in your hand, having a bunch of gold jewelry, or rubbing it daily?

Sometimes I even kept a 1/10 oz coin in my mouth.

I had to stop myself from carrying around a 1 oz American Eagle in my hand all the time because I kept flipping it and dropping it, and one day I left it at work, smh.

I try to put my coins somewhere safe, but I always end up leaving them all on my desk, playing with them. I'm talking tens of thousands’ worth just left on the desk or in the bed with me, smh.

I bought cases for them, but I take them all out. Never bought a PAMP or bar in a pack because I’ll get the urge to rip it out of the pack.

I wear a few ounces of gold jewelry every day and just purchased a new bracelet. I’m even thinking about getting an anklet, and I’m a man, lmao.

Am I just weird?
