The Portfolio Insert is finally here — thank you for all your feedback!

First of all, I want to say a big thank you to everyone in this community who shared suggestions and feedback when we were developing this idea.

Based on your input, the version most people preferred was the 3-in-1 design: Leather Zipper Pouch + Slip Pocket + Ring Protector.

The goal was simple: create more storage without taking up valuable ring space, giving you more flexibility without making your planner bulky.

One of the things we really wanted to solve was quick access. With the Portfolio Insert, you can grab your credit card or cash without needing to open the binder strap or search through your planner. Even in the compact Mini size, it can comfortably hold standard credit cards.

This project took much longer than we originally expected. We went through more than a dozen prototypes, testing different shapes and small details before we were finally happy with the result.

The zipper was probably one of the most challenging parts. We tested countless options and finally chose one that keeps the insert slim while still providing a smooth and satisfying opening experience. We also added both gold and silver zipper options so they can match the hardware, spine bars, and charms on your binder.

For different sizes and ring diameters, the zipper sits neatly along the edge of the binder, keeping the overall profile slim and comfortable to carry.

Like our other leather goods, it is crafted from the same Pueblo vegetable-tanned leather we love, combined with careful hand stitching, so it will develop a beautiful patina and character over time. Available now in Mini & Pocket sizes. 🤎

Thank you again for all the feedback and support — this project wouldn’t have been possible without this community!

We created a leather sample set after many customers asked about choosing leather

One question we often receive from customers is: “Which leather should I choose?”

It’s always difficult to decide based only on photos, because every leather has its own texture, firmness, grain, and character — especially with natural vegetable-tanned leather.

So we created a Leather Sample Set, allowing you to feel the leather in person before choosing your planner.

You can compare the colors, feel the structure and texture, and see how different leathers look side by side.

For those who enjoy the process of choosing materials, we hope this makes the experience a little easier.

Would love to hear — when choosing a leather product, what matters most to you? Color, texture, softness, firmness, or how it ages over time?

I made a divider that also bookmarks the next blank page — thoughts?

I’ve been thinking for a while about what a truly convenient planner divider would look like.

I wanted something that could:
- help me quickly find each section,
- take me straight to the next page I need to write on,
- stay lightweight and slim,
- and still look clean inside the binder.

Today I finally made a rough paper prototype of the idea I’ve had in my head.

It has a tab at the top for locating each section. The divider also has a fold-over flap that wraps around the pages I’ve already used. This means that when I open the section, I can immediately reach the next blank page instead of flipping through everything I’ve already written.

I think it could be especially useful for sections like Planning, Brain Dump, or Notes, where you keep adding new entries over time. I’ve tried brass page markers and similar accessories before, but because I couldn’t write the section name directly on them, I still had to stop and check which page I had reached. It never felt quite as effortless as I wanted.

This is only a quick handmade prototype, and I’m still testing the idea.

I’m also trying to decide what material would work best. Paper would be easy to write on and customize, but I’m worried it would wear out over time. I’ve also thought about making it from PP plastic because it would be much more durable, but I haven’t found a color palette that I really like yet.

What do you think? Is there anything you would change or improve? And if you were going to use something like this, would you prefer paper or PP plastic?

DIY “Running To-Do” System Using L-Shaped File Folders

I made a simple “running to-do” system using L-shaped plastic document sleeves, and it turned out to be a really practical weekly workflow tool.
Instead of rewriting unfinished tasks every week, I just keep everything in one place and carry them forward.

How I made it
1. L-shaped file folder base + index tab shape
Used standard L-type plastic sleeves. I trimmed the top edge so it sits about 0.5mm higher than the inner page, creating a visible index area.

Then I cut a small index shape on the top edge (like a tab/notch). This makes each sheet easier to identify at a glance, especially when stacking multiple weeks.

2. Hole + slit
Punched holes on the left side and cut each hole open, so pages can be inserted and removed without opening the ring binder.

3. Corner finishing
Rounded all four corners with a corner rounder for a cleaner look and smoother handling.

Mini & Personal now have a 13mm ring option

One of the requests we've received over and over again has been:

"Will you ever make a Mini with 13mm rings?"

Well... we finally did 😊

We've now added a 13mm ring option for both our Mini and Personal binders.

For those wondering about capacity, here's roughly how many of our Lightweight Refills (100gsm, ~6mm per 100 sheets) each ring size can hold:

11mm: ~133 sheets
13mm: ~160 sheets
16mm: ~200 sheets

(If you're using our Thick Series, the capacity will be lower.)

A couple of notes on the leather:

Mini 13mm uses a cover that's about 2mm wider than the 11mm version to better accommodate the larger rings.
Personal 13mm currently uses the same cover width as the 11mm version.

If the cover width is something you care about (we know some of you do 😊), feel free to send our customer support a message before ordering and we'd be happy to help.

As always, thank you for all the feedback. A lot of the changes we've made over the past year have come directly from conversations here, so please keep sharing your ideas!

Cutting open the holes on my Mini Reporter refills has been surprisingly useful

Recently I’ve really been enjoying cutting open the holes on my Mini Reporter refills so I can add or remove pages without opening the rings. It’s surprisingly convenient for quick notes and constant page swapping.

I’ve found this works much better with thicker paper though — thinner refills can slip out more easily once the holes are cut open.

I especially like doing this with Mini and Pocket setups, since I mainly use them for quick ideas, brain dumps, and to-dos on the go. Once a page is done, I usually just remove it instead of archiving it anyway.

Would you actually use a leather zipper pouch in a slim ring setup?

We’ve been debating something internally lately:
would a leather zipper pouch actually make sense in a slim ring setup?

The idea itself is pretty straightforward.

If you’re using a Pocket or Mini setup, you could quickly grab cash or cards without undoing the band every time — just unzip and go.

Pocket size feels especially natural for this since cards already fit pretty well.
Mini is a bit more questionable though. It’s probably possible, but taking cards in and out might end up feeling slightly cramped.

At the same time, we’ve been hesitant for a few reasons.

A leather pouch would end up significantly more expensive than a normal PVC pouch.
It would also take up a decent amount of ring space — and keeping setups slim/light is something we care about a lot.

And honestly… there are already some really good PVC pouches out there:
lighter, thinner, and much more affordable.

But a leather pouch just feels different somehow.

So before we go too far with the idea, we genuinely wanted to ask:

Would you actually use a leather zipper pouch in your setup?
Which size would make the most sense for you?
And is there anything specific you’d want from it?

Hi everyone,

First of all — thank you.

This month’s theme (“My MeePlus Setup”) was a really fun one for us.
We got to see how different systems take shape — how people split, connect, and adapt their setups to fit real life.

Going through all the posts was honestly one of the highlights of the month.

🏆 Winner — Binder of Your Choice
u/shark-on-a-stick — “My MeePlus Setup: Slices of the same cake”

The idea of “slices of the same cake” really stood out.

Using different setups for different parts of life — while still keeping them connected — feels simple, but very intentional.
Separating work and non-work like this makes both systems work better.

We also especially loved the idea of integrating an ereader into the binder.
Turning a divider into a secure way to carry it is such a creative use of the system — it goes beyond planning and into something much closer to a true everyday carry setup.

It’s one of those ideas that feels both clever and practical, and really shows how flexible the system can be.

📄 Refill Winners

u/epoo75 — “My MeePlus Setup: my brain and director”

This one stood out for how clearly it solves a real planning problem.

Using the binder as a place for quick brain dumps — and then being able to remove those pages once they’re no longer needed — is such a simple but powerful shift.
It reduces clutter, but more importantly, it reduces mental load.

Turning the system into a “brain and director” feels exactly right — capture fast, organize later, and only keep what matters.

u/SpecialistSharp2222 — “My MeePlus Setup: Dynamic Duo”

We loved how complete and lived-in this setup feels.

Using two binders with different roles — one for reflection, one as a daily workhorse — creates a really balanced system.
It’s a great example of how different sizes and ring capacities can support different needs without overlap.

Final Thoughts

What we enjoyed most this time wasn’t just the setups, but the thinking behind them.

How systems evolve
How different roles emerge
How everything slowly becomes more “you”

If you’re one of the winners, please send me a private message here on Reddit within 72 hours, and I’ll reply with the next steps.

Thanks again to everyone who shared, commented, or stopped by to read.

Hi everyone, Lora here 👋

Since I’ve been working from home recently, I took some time to properly organize my desk — and I’m actually really happy with how it turned out, so wanted to share it with you all!

My desk is about 1.7m wide (around 67 inches), and I split it into two main zones:

* Left side = work zone

When I’m working, I like to keep my mini notebook open next to me so I can quickly jot down any brain dump ideas, random thoughts, or to-dos as they come up. I also keep a personal-size ring binder here as my business planner — it kind of works as my little “command center” for projects, planning, and anything I need to keep track of.

* Right side = planning zone

This side holds my archive binders and some lower-frequency notebooks — like reading notes and my commonplace book.

* Middle = shared zone

I placed my most-used binders, refills, and pens right in the middle, so everything is easy to reach from either side. I also keep a small tea set here — I’ve recently gotten into tea, and having a cup while working or planning just makes the whole experience feel a lot more enjoyable.

Under the desk, I added quite a bit of storage — I’ve been using it to organize inks, different pens, sticky notes, stamps, etc. It’s not the prettiest part, but it’s very practical.

Right now, I’m thinking about getting a larger pen organizer so I can group all my pens more neatly in one place. Also… I might have a bit too many refills 😅 It’s starting to get harder to flip through and find what I need — still figuring out a better system for that.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Any ideas on how I could improve this setup?

u/Lora_MeePlus — 4 months ago

Hi everyone, Lora here.

I’ve had this idea in the back of my mind for a long time —
I’ve always wanted to write a small ebook about ring binders. Not as a “perfect system,” but more about how a flexible system can adjust to your brain, instead of forcing you to fit into it.

And also something simple but meaningful:
what people actually choose to keep in their binders, and how that might inspire more of us to pick up a pen and start writing — anytime, anywhere.

So over the past two weeks, I started turning this idea into something real.

I’ve been collecting real examples from customers and creators — how they’re actually using their MeePlus (and other) setups in daily life.

👉 You can check out the google doc here.

And honestly, it’s been really fun to go through.

There’s way more variety than I expected:

  • planners
  • commonplace books
  • reading notes
  • ink swatches
  • recipes
  • finance planners
  • sketchbooks
  • and a lot of in-between uses

It made me realize it’s less about finding the “right system,”
and more about building something that works with the way your thoughts move.

I’m still working on it and will keep updating the doc over time.
My hope is that it might give you a few ideas, or maybe inspire you to try something new with your setup.

And if you have any thoughts or suggestions for the doc, I’m all ears :)
