Does anyone know what the purchasable Mechanism Steam Controller dock uses for weights?

Interested in picking one up now that it’s on Amazon with free shipping, but curious what they used to weight it. The base is described as polycarbonate and the neck that holds the puck is aluminum, but theres no mention of what the weights are made of

How much more difficult is Cachyos than Bazzite?

Interested in switching but I’ve only really used Bazzite HTPC on my gaming PC connected to my tv and steamos on steam deck

How do the CopyFail, DirtyFrag and Fragnesia exploits work, and how risky is it if your distro hasn’t yet patched it?

Pretty new to Linux in general, and I had been using Bazzite’s SteamOS image for my HTPC, which doesn’t have the patches for the former two exploits yet. This is all quite new to me so I don’t quite understand the risks or how they work. Should I switch to another distro temporarily?

Is there any time frame for when the image hosted directly on steam will upgrade to 3.8?

In a week, that image is going to be a year old and I’d like to install it on my PC with a 9070XT. I’ve seen the links to images floating around, but given I haven’t been able to figure out how you can verify them I would have a preference for just waiting for the official image on steam to update.

How is using Steam in a distrobox?

I had been using Bazzite with Deck game mode for over a month on my HTPC, but since it won’t be getting the DirtyFrag patch for a while I was considering to move to a different distro since I’d need to be running the desktop version of Bazzite for the patch anyway, and I figured if I’m going to lose out on the main reason I’m using Bazzite in the first place, I might as well just use a normal desktop distro. I’ve briefly used Fedora Kinoite before and liked it, but I always layered Steam. Since I’ll have to distrobox for MangoHUD anyway I’m wondering if I can also just do a Fedora distrobox for Steam, and if that bypasses the issues with Flatpak (not being able to see gamepads or other drives)

On Kinoite, can a distrobox installed version of MangoHUD work with layered Steam?

Thinking about moving from Bazzite to Kinoite since I’ve been learning more about Linux, but I’m still a bit stumped on if a Distrobox program will interact with something native. I was trying to keep Steam as the only thing I layered (I use external drives and heard the flatpak has annoyances with them)

Did the -deck image get the patches for DirtyFrag and CopyFail?

I know it was pushed to the desktop images either a couple days ago or today and the wider Linux kernel got patched, but I also saw that the Deck/HTPC specific images aren’t going to get the new kernel for a while, so as a user of specifically the -deck image on an HTPC, I wanted to ask.

I’ve seen SkillUp and GiantBomb’s, but are there any others? I currently have an 8bitdo Ultimate 2 and I find it kind of uncomfortable (I’m not sure if it’s the way I hold it to reach the extra bumpers or maybe it being too small for my hands) but I also have regular Xbox controllers (One is better than Series for me) Dualsense (probably my favorite ergonomic hand feel) and Switch Pro/Pro 2, none of which cause me issues.
