What does Roxy do?

I’m usually inclined to just toss rolls at a character whenever I feel like it and use my wallet to make the difference because I have poor impulse control but this time around, I’m thinking it may be prudent to put in a little effort into saving up.

Phoenix and Severian aside, I know Sunbringer’s going to come up eventually. There may or may not be a Norma rerun coming sometime in the not-so-distant future, doubly important for me because I don’t have a Norma. Not to mention the ZZZ x HSR collab sending a Charmony Dove to New Eridu.

As such, I’m trying to decide whether I don’t bother rolling on Roxy at all or if I just yeet pulls at the banner like I usually do. To inform that decision, I’d wanna know what unique strength a character can offer to my account. I thought I’d content myself with my M5 Koleda and M3 Rina but I still don’t quite understand what sets Roxy apart from other stunners. Is there something that sets Roxy apart from other stunners?

Dialyn offers some damage, buffing, and also the prized free Ultimate to a teammate of her choice.

Norma, buffs aside, does a surprising amount of personal damage and Daze while also offering a good chunk of it off-field.

Trigger is a pretty strong off-field Stun Agent that requires little active piloting time and functions well in Claret’s teams.

Ju Fufu, despite being outdated, has some strengths including her Decibel gimmick.

And of course, Koleda just got buffed to serve as a stand-in for Claret’s team.

Can someone help me understand what Roxy does and whether the numbers justify sending polychromes her way? Aside from pulling her to keep her with her “not-girlfriend”, of course.

When it comes to combat, who are your favorite Agents?

This isn’t strictly about a character’s portrayal in the main story nor is it about their meta viability. My question is more aimed at whether you enjoy the feeling of piloting them in combat. To use myself as an example, I am a huge fan of Banyue’s gameplay. Knowing that I can parry whatever I want in my back pocket makes me feel so powerful, and nothing feels good to me like parrying an enemy over and over again. His weird combo EX Skill Cancel combo system rewards game knowledge and mastery in a way no other Agent can. With most other agent, I feel some satisfaction from knowing I understand enough about their kit and playstyle to win with them. But with Banyue, I enjoy every second I spend on-field with him.

From another angle, I really enjoy fielding my Silver Squad Anby. I took time to figure out how to play her and it feels rewarding to implement that knowledge properly. I play her with my newly acquired Seed from the spending event and it’s really fun to swap one into the field while the other one is still doing their thing. Swapping into SAnby and getting to work while Seed is busy smashing the enemy into the ground with a big wind-up punch is really cool. The vice-versa is also true; swapping into Seed to hold E lets me watch SAnby finish the final animation of her tap EX > tap EX > tap EX combo while laying missiles into the enemy.

Final mention is probably going to be Jane. Her Perfect Dodge and Dodge Attack animations are so smooth and fun to watch. When she first released, she genuinely felt untouchable when going up against any enemy. Fighting the Jane Shadow as Jane is truly a sight to behold lol.

Coming around to the new permanent game mode because of one fact: this is probably how things are like in-universe for Hollow Raiders

Even though I'm not really the type to enjoy this gameplay loop for longer than a few rhns at a time, I realized this is how Hollow Raiders probably get things done in New Eridu. Buy supplies, get in, fight some ethereals, loot what they can, and then get out with what they can. Gameplay and narrative/worldbuilding meshing well together is really important to me so this belated realization helped me develop a new appreciation for it.

Magic Keyboard suddenly stopped working???

My iPad Pro 2nd gen suddenly ran into a series of unexpected problems a few days ago. Firstly, the Magic Keyboard I use it with suddenly died without any warning. It will not respond to being attached to my iPad. It does not register any input from the keys nor the trackpad. It worked fine on another person’s iPad when they attached it to my Magic Keyboard, however. Based on this information, I can assume the problem lies with my iPad and not the keyboard itself.

Secondly, the iPad does not want to perform an iOS update. I keep getting hit with the “Unable to Verify Update” problem. It refuses to update no matter how many times I attempt it. I’ve already performed a reset and then used my iCloud backup to resume where I left off, and nothing. Restarting does nothing. Earlier this morning, the iPad suddenly went into Recovery Mode twice and then resumed functioning normally as if nothing were wrong.

I am at a loss for how to proceed.

New Hugo owner’s questions

I’ve played this game for a while, took a break during Failume heights and returned to full-time play after the Failume Heights arc when the Angels of Delusion dropped. Even before that, I was a very big fan of Hugo and wanted him even though I understood he was a significant step down from agents like Miyabi and Ye Shungguang. If nothing else, I wanted to have him so I could do his Trust Events and learn his lore through the game instead of relying on YouTube playthroughs for the snippets.

Fast forward to this anniversary. I owned every agent in the selector except for Hugo. Since I was planning on committing to the spending event to get Seed, I decided to get Trigger’s signature engine since I didn’t have it yet and I reasoned I could use the high crit rate on Seed’s signature engine to lend to Hugo whenever I fancied trying him out. That ended up being the plan I committed to, so now I’m a M0W0 Hugo owner. I don’t necessarily regret the choice, but I am wondering if there’s anyone else here who has him at M0W0 and how you make him work (if you make him work). I have Dialyn M0W0 on Hellfire Gears, Lighter M0W1, and Lycaon M5 on Qingyi’s signature engine. No Norma, sadly.

Agents that can actually fight vs. Agents that fight because they were made playable

In reviewing the characters that have been added to the game thus far, I realized it's a tad strange for some to be fighting on the frontline. N.E.P.S, HSO6, The Cunning Hares, and Yunkui Summit are filled with characters that I think can believably fight Ethereals head on. But then you have some characters like the Angels of Delusion who seem like they would be civilians if they hadn't been made playable, or even someone like Zhao from Krampus who would just as well serve the role of a palmtop tiger type of corporate boss without having to add the giant sword.

But that's just my opinion. Do y'all think it's perfectly fine for all playable agents to be considered adept at Hollow Operations and combat against Ethereals? 🤔

Returning player worries - dusting off my old account

I played WuWa a fair bit some time ago. Fair to say it's been too long, as I had stopped playing after I had pulled Cartethyia and I haven't made progress past the Fleurdelys fight. It's been so long, and honestly I've had temptations to come back and every now and then. The upcoming Cyberpunk collab was the final push I needed to cave in.

With that said, my teams are quite dated. Advice of any sort would be appreciated on this front. I understand the teams are probably quite lacking compared to the firepower of the more modern units but surely it's not THAT bad, right?

Watching other players perform misinputs on a character I know how to play is a fun exercise and a breath of fresh air

I know how the title sounds but hear me out first lol

I’ve been learning how to play more characters as time goes on. Getting good with new characters feels good so I pick up more characters over time. I’ve done it with King, Armor King, Leroy, Leo, and just recently I’ve finished with Raven. I’m currently considering Azucena or Kazuya as my next project. It’s fun to watch other people, or even content creators, play a character I’ve learned because there will be times when they perform an attack that could have been a misinput. I enjoy identifying these moments because it helps me strengthen my awareness as a player. Specifically, my awareness of when I need to execute certain moves properly instead of getting sloppy with the inputs. Also, it helps me understand what the other player is planning to go for. As an example: for King players, there will be times when you want to punish someone with a FC Df2 and you accidentally get WS2, 2 instead. Or perhaps you get WS1+2 when you were actually trying to go for D, DF 1+2. For Raven, it’s not that hard to accidentally mistime the qcf input after a FF3 and end up with a DF1 when you wanted a qcf cancel into Shadow Step 1,2. Watching a Kazuya do a Rage Art at a time when a Patricide Fist would have probably been more appropriate is kinda funny. It doesn’t happen too often, especially when I fight someone who is ranked higher than me, but it’s like a reminder that I’m not the only one who still struggles with certain inputs.

On an unrelated note, ever since Season 3 started, I’ve been fighting more people ranked higher than me than before. When I was taking my Raven to Tekken King, I encountered someone in TGS while I was still between Kishin and Bushin. I don’t know if it’s because less people are playing the game than before or some other factor.

Is 100 Defense possible?

I’ve met a lot of nasty players since I started playing Tekken 8. But today was something special. A Battle Ruler Kuma was wrecking me with reaction speed and low parries far beyond what I expected. I’ve never been one to accuse people of cheating in the past. Thinking back on it now, I probably met a smurf who was probably grinding on a fresh account. I’m also picking up Raven for the first time and I still can’t get used to his qcf dash cancels so I’m obviously not good with him yet. But with all that said, 100 Defense seems a bit too egregious, even for me.
