Hotend shorted, Do I replace or repair the motherboard?

Hi folks. The hotend has shorted out on my printer, and even after replacing it with a new module it immediately starts to heat up when I power the printer on. Some googling seems to suggest that the mosfet on the motherboard has popped when it shorted.

Should I try to replace the chip (I have moderate soldering equipment and skills) or is it easier and more cost effective to just replace the board? and if that is the case is there an upgraded one I should be looking at?

What is the difference between the normal board and the ones that are labelled as silent ?

Where is the best place to get a board from? Creality direct? Amazon? Friendly neighbourhood Chinese drop shipping agent?

Thanks in advance everyone.

I currently have a 2019 Octavia 2.0 SE L Diesel (65K miles) and the time has come to make a decision at the end of the finance term. Do I pay it off and keep it or change it for something else?

I have had a look at a couple of 2022-23 (50-55K Miles) 1.4 hybrid Octavia iVs. On paper the fuel savings due to the short school and shop runs I do would be huge, these daily short runs are about 25mpg and motorway runs to work twice a week are mid to high 50s. Making the average 44mpg just now.

Would I be daft to go for a car that is only 2-3 years younger and only 10-15K Miles less than what I have just to save on fuel costs?

I am also wondering about the value of my car dropping due to the rising diesel costs.
