What to make with mini tissue paper squares?

I bought what I thought were 'bleeding' tissue paper squares for those cute tissue paper watercolor painting projects. Turns out they're just regular tissue paper 😭 My bad for not looking closely but any ideas for what I can do with all of these? For Elementary grades PK-5 but ideally something for 2 & 3 to replace my plan for tomorrow hahaha.

Pokemon Podcasts?

Are there any podcasts, either series or single episodes, that are about Pokemon that you've enjoyed? Open to any topic within that, like game secrets, lore/theories, company history, whatever.

I listen to a lot of podcasts as a way of managing my anxiety but I've gotten bored of my core rotation, and my Pokemon hyperfixation has been particularly hyper- lately.

Bonus points for long episodes, calm voices, and/or fewer ads.

Ethics of sharing student artwork online?

I teach PK-5 and have a private instagram account that I sometimes set to public during the summer in order to share my own art practice. It's under a different name so not easily searchable by kids/parents unless someone was doing some serious investigative digging. I also have a portfolio website that has samples of my artwork as well as examples of past student artwork.

I'm also very proud of the work my students created over the last year and I would like to share some of it on my instagram so my friends and family can see, but I'm not sure what the ethics are of that. Obviously wouldn't be posting student names/faces or anything but how do you guys feel about posting student artwork online anonymously with or without student/parent permission, on a portfolio website or on social media? Where does that line of appropriateness fall for you?

the sarah dessen to elena ferrante pipeline of hazy summer girl-friendships

I loved Sarah Dessen's books as a teen and with summer coming up I want to find something to read that matches that vibe. It's been well over a decade since I've read her but (in my memory at least) her books were excellent at capturing that hazy dreamlike summer vibe while being grounded in real feeling and experience. (This is so vague, I'm sorry!) The strong friendship connections between women/girls were another thing I loved through all of Dessen's work and would love to read more of, especially if queer characters/experiences are featured in some way.

Past reads that have hit all these marks for me are: Another Brooklyn by Jacqueline Woodson, and My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante. (Yes I will read the rest of the Neapolitan trilogy eventually!)

To summarize I'm looking for:

- Adult literary fiction (or particularly well crafted YA)

- Set at least partially in summertime, prose captures atmosphere and sense of time and place

- Queer characters and/or focus on meaningful relationships (not necessarily romantic) between women

Thanks!

Easy one-day projects?

K-5 teacher here, careening towards the end of the year and facing a minefield of random days off and cancelled classes and low attendance. I don't want to start any high stakes multi-period projects and risk disappointing the kids by not finishing them.

What are your go to single-class-period, (relatively) low-mess, low-prep projects? I've been somewhat choice oriented most of the year but down to pull out the seasonal crafty "cookie cutter" stuff for now haha. No clay please.

Thanks!

Project for mosaic glass pieces? (K-5)

I started teaching at a new elementary school this year and inhereted a wildly disorganized closet of old materials, including a huge bin of real glass tiles for mosaics like these: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81BbN7yFlgL._AC_SL1500_.jpg

I've never done mosaic personally, so while I'd love to use these with the kids next year I have no idea where to start.

Has anyone done mosaic making with elementary aged kids? What sorts of material(s) do you use to hold them in place? Would air dry clay or hardware store tile grout work? Or any ideas for non-traditional uses?

We have small class sizes with some pretty advanced artists and not too many behavioral challenges in the upper grades so I'd be down to take it in more challenging directions.

Thanks!

A few months ago, I went on a vacation with my boyfriend. It was supposed to be a special once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it was, but I was in a bad headspace for most of it. After the trip my boyfriend told me that I was acting weird and distant the whole time to the point where he was reconsidering if we were compatible. This triggered a horrible spiral and now, even though I had a wonderful time on the trip despite not being at my best, I can't look at anything that reminds me of the trip without feeling sick and ashamed, from my own souvenirs to photos of the country we visited.

How do I separate my own good memories from the shame of having hurt my boyfriend's feelings, without engaging in reassurance seeking from him? (No commentary on who was right or wrong here please, and we have talked through it too much already so that wouldn't be helpful now.)

Or any suggestions of small exposures I could do relating to the trip so that I can think back on it without feeling triggered?
