Has anyone else had an experience where you finally throw up, but it’s almost like it retraumatizes you?
I had an episode of vertigo for the first time a couple of months ago which ended up making me throw up for the first time in 10 years.
In the moment I was so proud and relieved but it almost made things worse in the way of remembering how it feels. Idk. I’m confused
Here’s a good exposure reel I came across today lol. For some reason it helps me to see happy normal people find humor in vomit, even if after the fact!!

Man. I am grieving so much. My(26F) boyfriend(29M) of 4 years and I are probably breaking up. My first long term relationship and first actually healthy relationship. It’s basically mutual. And I know we’ll always be in each other’s lives, but it almost makes it worse. We still love each other sooo much.
It’s basically come down to a sexual compatibility thing we’ve revisited multiple times in the relationship, trying to make it work or ignore it because everything else was good. TLDR of that is there is a kink he has that I don’t know that I can/want to fulfill in the increasing ways he’s needing.
We just recently moved into separate places to see if that would help, and it did. But the sex thing was still the elephant in the room. We were having sex, and we are attracted to each other, but I lean more “vanilla” and emotional with sex, he is very specific kink driven (I don’t want to say what it is, but it’s very niche).
I feel like I’m cutting my own leg off. I don’t want to lose him. I know I’m technically not, but I’m losing our intimate lives together.
I think that’s the reason we’ve stayed in it so long, because neither of us want to give that up. But it’s something that we’re realizing we may not want to have to do the rest of our lives, especially if it continues to grow.
Anyways. Thanks for reading. Hopefully I made some sense. I feel horrible.
I drank tonight
It was day 23
I attended a wedding
I had 3 sauviguan blancs in a very normal amount of time and I felt fine about it. It wasn’t like I was shameful or anything. I was enjoying a special occasion with old friends. It felt right and appropriate
Then on the way home got a tall white claw surge because it wouldn’t have been worth it to just stop drinking when I didn’t even really feel tipsy
I feel okay. I’m only planning to drink on special occasions. And I don’t feel bad about it. I’m learning what my relationship to alcohol is in this time.
Love yall!
Hi guys! I’m on day 13 no alcohol. Trying to make it 30 days, which I know I will.
I’m curious if any of you took a break then went back to drinking in moderation/occasionally successfully?
My 26F boyfriend 29M (together for 4 years) had to take me to urgent care after I suddenly developed severe vertigo and couldn’t even lift my head or stand up for hours. I ended up throwing up too, which was especially terrifying because I have emetophobia and hadn’t thrown up in 10 years. The whole experience honestly felt traumatic to me.
Days later, when I was trying to talk about how proud I was of myself for getting through it and not being bedridden with fear, he responded with “well you did take off work for the weekend,” which felt really invalidating considering how scary the experience was for me. The conversation then turned into him expressing resentment about having to take me to urgent care that night because it interfered with his plans to move our stuff out of our old apartment, and then turned into being about how my anxiety has affected a lot of our relationship overall.
I feel so hurt and unsafe. I’m housesitting right now for friends and gave my location to a few others because now I don’t even wanna call him if the vertigo happens again.
I guess my question is, what would you feel like in this situation? I obviously get being in a relationship for 4 years with someone who suffers from anxiety isn’t for the weak, but damn. And he’s always been supportive even though he doesn’t get it.
I have a job, I am completing an internship for graduate school, and I house and pet sit on the side. I’m not a hermit or anything. And we have a healthy relationship otherwise.
Edit: YES I am in therapy and have been on medication. The vertigo was unrelated to anxiety.
The anxiety recently has increased due to whatever stage of life I’m in right now, and I’m taking action towards it. I’m not -totally- unaware hahaha
But I get it!!! I guess I just need to accept this may not be the right relationship for me or him right now.
Boyfriend had to take me(26F, 140lbs, 5’1) to urgent care last night.
I suddenly got super dizzy around 7pmish then ended up sitting on the bathroom floor not able to pick my head up / insanely nauseous.
Hours went by and things weren’t getting better, and I felt like I couldn’t stand up or I’d vomit. (Side note, I hadn’t thrown up in 10 years and have a phobia of it!)
He had to pick me up from the ground and get me in the car and it felt like the world was spinning I had to hold on for dear life. He got me into the car and I knew it was coming. so I THREW UP a few times for the first time in 10 years which was horrifying
Anyway yeah we made it 5 mins down the road and they literally had to wheelchair me in the place.
A few times in the bed I had this falling feeling where I quickly had to grab the rails on the bed.
Ended up giving me lorazepam for my anxiety, meclizine, zofran, and fluids.
It was apparently just vertigo. But I’ve NEVER had it and I hope I never do again because I’ve never felt worse in my life.
* I do vape nicotine, and I’ve drank daily for almost 2 years..
I take Zoloft 50mg, Zofran as needed. *
If anything this was my cue to get it together. I haven’t drunken since.
But I do have health anxiety. And so I’m worried it was a stroke.
Should I go get an MRI or something??
