Does anyone know where to shoot 5.56 for extremely cheap?

Preferably free, and near DFW. I know there’s some state land you can shoot on, but not sure where to look it up exactly.

I just saw a post that made me think of it. Let’s say someone buys a gun switches out the barrel and illegally shoots at least 1 round (with after market barrel) then gets home (where he can’t be arrested 😂) and switches barrels to the original and gets rid of the aftermarket barrel.

Would there be a way for the police to say this is the exact gun used or no?
