How long until I can walk into a gunshow and pay cash for a private-sale suppressor with zero paperwork?

“Effective October 9, 2026, the ATF will no longer enforce prior-approval (Form 1 and Form 4), registration, or tax-stamp requirements for individuals making or transferring short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs), suppressors, and certain "any other weapons" (AOWs) under the National Firearms Act (NFA).”

Copendero is telling customers who paid for suppressors they will not be allowing them to take home their already purchased products regardless of the end of the 60-day window following the August 5, 2026 final judgment to file a formal notice of appeal, which ends October 5th.

Mind you the Copendero Sales guy Chris was playing the hard sales tactic for everyone who walked in the door when the filing took place, promising, and i quote "buy them now, we should have the greenlight by end of the weekend to let them go home! buy them as fast as you can we cant promise you we will have any stock left by Monday" ( this was mid August) "worst case scenario you get a refund but dont worry we are gonna let these things go any day now!" - talk about a guy who was getting a commission off of the sales. .... also mind you he didnt mention the 25% restocking fee if refunded.

fast forward to October and the customer service is playing defense "we dont care what you want to take home, were going to keep the products until its safe to do so." "even though the window passes, we arent letting them go until probably mid-october"

Been in the gun community for years now, and the general consensus is Copendero is doing something funky...and no ones is quite sure why.

Whew, just got surprised with a $40 transfer fee from Boss Firearms. About to order a cheap little .22 who isn't gouging in BCS? I'm used to $20-25

Hello yall, I’m active duty navy currently in San Diego, I’ll be home for Christmas and just saw the DOJ decision on the ban for 18-20 yo’s purchasing handguns from FFL’s, I’m looking to pick something up when I’m home and would like the ease of an FFL instead of a private sale, but all the shops I’ve called have said they’re not selling to under 21 yet. Does anyone have any insight into how long until we see the effects of the DOJ ruling in Texas or whether we will see anything at all?

Preferably in North Texas like the Dallas area. But anywhere in the state also works. That's something on my bucket list that I want to shoot
