Using Lightroom for Importing and Culling

Hi all, I am new to Lightroom and looks like i have already mucked up importing into catalog and importing into drive and hoping to start over.

Here is what i actually want to do

  • Take my memory card plug it into my MAC and get Lightroom to Import Photos onto my computer into different date folders. (Important as i take 5 photos one day and 100 the next day and want them organized)
  • Is there a way to also add location info to these folders name when i import.
  • I also have close to 1000 photos already on my MAC, is there a way to get Lightroom to Import them onto a different folder structure similar to point 1?
  • I then want to use the Lightroom culling feature to select and pick when I am on the train and use the unpicked ones filter to delete them from catalog and my storage.

I am new to softwares and cant seem to understand how this works. YT is not helpful as it points to old videos or videos about doing things completely different than i asked for.

Beginner to MacBook Buying Help Needed

Hi, all I'm planning to buy a mac for photo editing predominately ans light media use. I have no understanding of what is required and everywhere I search people recommend the latest but one video pointed out that M1 max is better than M5 ?? I am completely lost.

I had a refurbished M5 Pro 16 ready to buy and someone pointed out I should wait for the OLED screens.

Can someone help me point in the right direction before I loose my mind please

I am a hobbyist photographer and my photos are 20MP generally from an OM system camera and sometimes want to stack 100s of these photos. I don't think I will ever edit batches of more than 100 photos. Color accurate screen and a long lasting laptop are my main needs.

M1 Max 32GB RAM from ebay: 2000 NZD

M4 Pro 16 inch 24 GB ram locally: 4500 NZD

Refurbished M5 Pro Mad: 5000 NZD

Mac M5 : 14 inch 24 GB : 4200 NZD

Mac M5 Pro 14 inch: 5000 NZD

All of these fit my budget but I'm also open to getting something lower spec if it works and wait for something good that might be coming? Sorry for l9ng post

Help Deciding Which Build Path is Better for a Photo Editing/Gaming PC

Hi all, I'm fairly new to PC's and have about 12 hours of knowledge on pc parts. I'm looking to get a PC built soon by some local builders here and needed to decide which one is more suited to my needs.

I plan to use DxO photolab, Deepprime XD2, light room, and play games like Cyberpunk, Far Cry, Indiana Jones, and Such.

Dxo Recommend Specs:

Intel® Core™ 10000 series or Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 165H or AMD Ryzen™ with 8 cores 32 GB RAM 50 GB available disk space 1920 x 1080 display Microsoft® Windows® 11 version 24H2 Graphic card: • NVIDIA RTX™ 4060 Ti 16 GB with latest drivers • AMD Radeon™ RX 7800 XT 16 GB with latest drivers

Build 1: Intel 270K CPU and 9060xT graphics card

Build 2: Ryzen 7 78003D, RTX 5070.

Both are around 3.2k NZD and have 32 GB DDR5, 2TB storage, and air cooled.

I do not understand what is better for my needs. Can someone please guide me ?
