Have you decided against pursuing RN? If so why ?

Hello all my wonderful LVNs, I just want to ask if there are any of you who have decided not to pursue RN and maybe have decided to doing something else in healthcare?

What made you make this decision? I want to hear your story. 🫶

For me, I applied to RN school a few years back and I got in but the drive and everything else just wasn’t feasible for me. I then applied again got in and I didn’t want to spend so much money just for an ADN. Throughout that time God opened doors and I completed my associates and bachelors and then I started looking into becoming an eastern medicine practitioner…like integrating my healthcare background with eastern medicine practices like acupuncture. This is the path God has led me on and I’m really loving being in school again and integrating all my nursing stuff with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Class literally sometimes leaves me 🤯.

Happy Wednesday Nurses! 🤗 👩‍⚕️
Thank you for all you do!

Has having a dog improved your mental health?

I have found throughout the last decade that God has put so many resources in my path that have ultimately helped “heal,” mental health.

Growing up I don’t think I realized how much having a dog would help do that even though we had cats when I was younger then by the time I was in middle school my Mum brought home a sweet boy dachshund. As an adult I have had dogs but when I got my current dog back in 2017 is when things started changing for me.

My husband named her Lilly. She has truly added moments of joy to my life. I gotten to travel with her, take her to church with me and various other places especially when she was a pup. She has filled me with laughter, been there for me as I went through school, my first pregnancy and even know when I don’t feel well she snuggles up and comforts me. I feel seen by her and loved. I have noticed overall having her has definitely been part of my healing journey especially in my current season. She has definitely been a part of my mental improvement in my mental health overall. 🐾🐕‍🦺

All I can say is Thank you Jesus for creating Lilly and putting her in my life. 🙌🙏

In what ways have you noticed your mental health or overall health improving since you got your dog? 💛

Is any type of bone broth a staple in your diet?

Because I’ve been so sick the last few months as far as my digestion God helped me discover chicken feet broth and salt is like one of the things I can actually tolerate!

I think chicken feet broth has become one of my favorite foods. While my husband has used other types of bones to make broth throughout my carnivore journey this one has just become something I have really come to appreciate!

Benefits have been: easy to digest, taste yummy, can add broth when making steamed eggs, can use broth to cook other meat for ex. ground turkey, easy to take on the go and drink throughout the day, seems to keep electrolytes levels pretty solid, doesn’t cause heartburn for me, thank God.💛

What kind of bone broth has been your go to while living the carnivore lifestyle?

Have you noticed any specific benefits health wise or in general with specific types?

What is the most challenging speciality to work in as a nurse and why?

I feel like anytime I have shared with others that I worked in mental health for the majority of my nursing career so far, they just 🤯. It seems many believe behavioral health in general is challenging to work in and I agree it can be, but so can any other speciality.

I have found it really depends on the Behavioral Health setting. The most challenging for me was the locked psychiatric hospital I worked at. Spiritually it was draining. I no longer work in mental health but I noticed when we allow God to lead us into where we are destined to be things may be “challenging,” but it just so happens He always provides the strength you need to get through.

Also my Mum works as a CNA in hospice care I view that as being more challenging than Behavioral Health. It seems so difficult emotionally to deal with death so often. 😭

What about you what do you believe to be the most challenging speciality? Do you have experience in that speciality or is it a speciality someone told you that it is challenging?

What is the best thing you have found that helps with PMS?

The PMS symptoms have been so real for me for years. Mine used to be so bad I used to faint from cramps, vomit, and the irritability let’s not even mention that.

God has allowed me to start using natural remedies, supplements, and things like acupuncture to get my body in harmony.

The thing that seemed to improve my PMS believe it or not was calcium citrate 600-900 mg per day either during the entire month or just during luteal phase. I noticed for me taking it the entire month seems to be more helpful.

Also I’ve made Angelica Root tea for the first day of my cycle and that also seemed to somewhat help with the 1st day of cycle.

One of the other things that have made the biggest difference in improving my PMS symptoms and horrible cycles has been acupuncture, believe it or not!

All I can say is Thank You Jesus for allowing me to start researching and implementing more natural ways to get to root cause of my horrible PMS and get some relief!

What are supplements or other natural remedies you have been able to use that worked to help ease your PMS symptoms? 💛

Did the carnivore diet change your relationship with food and how?

I think for me God used carnivore to help me realize that I really had some food issues. What I mean by food issues is the majority of my diet back in the day consisted of eating highly processed foods 🍬🍭🍩🍪🧁🎂 constantly for like every meal….😭

As I ate those foods I was not realizing how I was truly hurting my gut health, physical health, mental health and even my spiritual health.

As God allowed me to move along and adapted the carnivore lifestyle I realized looking back now like wow I had a serious problem. I ate highly processed food to emotionally help me “feel,” better (which was usually only short lived.)

God used the carnivore lifestyle to help me see myself and I am so grateful 🥹 that He continues to heal me and change my relationship with food into a healthy, intentional, nourishing relationship, where I’m no longer hurting myself by the foods I pick to fuel my body with but I am now nourishing the body God has blessed me with.

How has God used the carnivore lifestyle to change your relationship with food? And to change you in general? 💛

What has been your favorite benefit of the carnivore diet?

Literally one of the things I noticed with having a carnivore lifestyle once God helped me overcome my processed sweet food addiction 🍩🍪🍭🍬 with all the chemicals, dyes, processed stuff, etc was how my hair felt.

Like wow 🤯 it started to feel so “strong,” fluffy, and actually moisturized. Then as I continued to add other eastern medicine practices like for instance acupuncture I’ve noticed my hair seems to be growing even more.

I seriously can’t remember a time where my hair has been so healthy.

All I can say is Thank you Jesus 🙏🙌
for my husband introducing me to the carnivore lifestyle.

What is your favorite part about being a nurse? 👩‍⚕️

Every career comes with pros and cons, right?

But I would say getting to educate people on various topics (one of my fav topics is diet) and also getting the opportunity to teach others how to advocate for themselves to the providers, insurance company, etc. It has been such a blessing from God 🙏

What about you? What’s your favorite part about being a nurse? 💛
