AITAH for refusing to keep financially supporting my girlfriend after she said money doesn’t matter to her?
I’ve been with my girlfriend for several years, and throughout our relationship I’ve tried to give her a comfortable life. I helped with bills, paid for expensive things when I could, supported her education, and even helped her family financially.
Recently, we had a serious argument about our relationship. She told me that money and the things I provide don’t matter to her, and that love should be enough. I understand that love is more important than money, but I also feel that my sacrifices and support shouldn’t be taken for granted.
After that argument, I told her that I’m no longer comfortable paying for everything and that from now on we should both contribute fairly. She said I was being controlling and using money to measure her love.
Now I’m wondering if I’m actually being unfair.
AITAH for deciding to stop financially supporting her and asking us to split our responsibilities more equally?
