Are Adam and Felipe friends outside the show?

Does anyone else get the vibe (LOL) that these two are actually friends outside of the show? The way they look at each other, plus how Adam is always talking about him, makes me feel like these two dudes are already buddies and decided to go on a reality show together.

I don’t know… something about it just feels off to me. I’m not buying it. The vibes are strange

First time in Cabo

Hey everyone, planning my first trip to Cabo with my partner and I’m planning to propose while we’re there. Trying to line up a few things and would love some local advice.

We’re looking for a nice resort around $500 a night. We love being on the water (paddleboarding, snorkeling, etc.), so staying on or near a swimmable beach would be huge. Also, one of us is strictly gluten-free, so I need somewhere with good GF options that actually takes cross-contamination seriously.

Also planning to rent a car to explore a bit and maybe day trip out to Todos Santos or Cabo Pulmo. Is driving pretty easy for first timers down there? I’ve seen people mention Cactus Car Rental to avoid crazy insurance surprises at the counter is that still the best option?

If you have any recommendations for resorts, great gluten-free spots, or scenic/quiet places that would be great for a proposal, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

cross posting: Primera vez en Cabo: First time on Cabo!

Hey guys heading to Baja for the first time soon. I’m planning a trip to propose to my partner, so I’m really trying to make this special but not totally over-the-top corporate.

We’re looking for a solid resort that feels high-end/safe but won't completely kill our budget. Ideally aiming for something around the $500/night mark. We’re big on outdoor stuff and water activities (snorkeling/paddleboarding), so being near a swimmable beach is a huge plus. Also, we’re strictly gluten-free, so a place that actually gets that without making it a whole "thing" would be awesome.

Right now, I’m looking at places like Montage or maybe One&Only, but honestly, if there are hidden gems that hit that $500 price point, let me know.

A few other quick things I’m trying to figure out:

  1. Rental Cars: Is it worth grabbing a car at SJD to hit Todos Santos or Cabo Pulmo for a day? I’ve seen people mention Cactus or BBB for avoiding the insurance headache—is that still the move?
  2. Day Trips: We want to get out and explore a bit. Is driving around pretty chill for a first-timer, or should we stick to shuttles/tours?
  3. The Proposal: I’m sitting on a ring and trying to find the perfect spot. Any recommendations for somewhere a bit more private or scenic that isn't just a generic tourist trap?

Really appreciate any tips or "don't do this" advice. Trying to make this a trip we'll actually remember. Thanks!

Spanish:

¡Gracias!

Looking for a Big Island proposal photographer (Aug. 17–21) & location recommendations

Hi everyone!

I'll be visiting the Big Island in mid-August and I'm planning to propose to my partner sometime between August 17–21. This has been over a year in the making after we had to postpone our original plans due to some family and medical circumstances, so I'm hoping to make it a really special and memorable experience.

I'm looking for recommendations for a photographer who has experience capturing surprise proposals and can help with planning the logistics. Ideally, I'm looking for someone who knows the island well and can recommend an incredible location while keeping everything discreet so the surprise isn't spoiled.

Right now I'm thinking about a few different ideas:

  • A secluded beach at sunset
  • A proposal before or during a stargazing experience
  • A scenic overlook
  • Maybe following it up with a private picnic or something similar

That said, I'm completely open to ideas. If there's a location or experience you think would be perfect for a proposal, I'd love to hear it even if it's something I haven't considered.

If you've personally worked with a photographer you would recommend, or know someone who specializes in surprise proposals, I'd really appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks so much! I'm really excited to visit the island and want to make this a once-in-a-lifetime memory for both of us.

Big Island proposal trip - Costco Vacations vs booking myself? Fairmont Orchid worth it?

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping to get some advice from people who know the Big Island well.

I'm planning a trip to Hawaii this summer because I'm finally going to propose to my partner. I actually had everything planned for last year, but we had some unexpected medical and family issues come up, so I had to cancel the entire trip. Now I'm trying to pull something together again, and I really want to get it right.

Right now I'm leaning toward the Big Island because it seems like it has the best mix of things we enjoy Volcanoes National Park, waterfalls, snorkeling, helicopter tours, and just getting out and exploring.

I've been looking at Costco Vacations since some of the packages seem like a really good value. One that caught my eye is the Fairmont Orchid. I stayed there back in 2018 and thought it was beautiful, but I've seen a lot of recent reviews saying it's starting to feel dated. Is that true, or is it one of those things where people are being overly critical? If you've stayed there recently, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

For the hotel, flights, and rental car, my budget is around $6,000 total (not including spending money while we're there). I also have about 140,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points, so I'm open to using those if it makes more sense than booking a package.

A few questions:

  • Is Costco Vacations generally the best value for a trip like this, or would you book everything separately?
  • Is the Fairmont Orchid still worth it, or are there other luxury resorts on the Big Island you'd recommend in a similar price range?
  • If you were planning a proposal on the Big Island with my budget, what would you do?

I really appreciate any advice. I only plan on doing this once, so I'm trying to make it as memorable as possible without blowing the budget.

Thanks everyone!

(throwaway account so my S/O does not see my post)

UPDATE: Went with booking my flights with points and booking the hotel and car with Costco since they offered free parking, free buffet and and something called a fun and sun card (no clue what that is) im pretty happy with the over package and price. Thank you all for the help!!
