Engineering Costume Theme in Pandora

Just a quick rant, but our university is pushing a Pandora Tribe Theme for a costume competition with our theme conceptualizing a tribe that transforms natural resources into reliable tools, machines, and mechanisms that support the tribe while respecting Pandora's ecosystem. Even though i hate not following source material, i am aware it is fiction after all. But doesn’t it give off a bad message with the way of balance Pandora lives due to their culture and religion with Eywa that forbid machines, metalwork, and any industrial progress…and how it’s inspired by real world tribes and colonization being a big message of it. Their enemies basically use these innovations to steal from their resources…Idk how to feel about but it’s definitely off. Either way i don’t really know how i’ll be able to design it that way.

danmeis and their inability to give personalities to their female characters

i’ve just started a novel “Forces of Temptation” by Qi Jing Nan Qu. so far i’m still at the very first few chapters before the second arc but i can’t help but be bothered by Li Yinhang’s character in comparison to the MC and ML. she plays off as a self-aware person that hangs on to the leg of the two big shots(MC and ML) but the gap of their dynamic really bothers me, although it make sense with their power difference i’m pretty sure she’s just gonna be put in to the corner. I have encountered a lot of danmeis with the same issue of not giving their female characters any personality or worse for some(not including this one) is degrading them to be someone who goes between the main couple.

i’m still short-sighted for assuming when i just started the novel but i don’t wanna waste my time when i’m just gonna be disappointed if they follow the same trope. Should I continue reading this?
