RNOR transition: US equity research via IBKR + India wealth planning advice?

Moving back to India soon and transitioning into the RNOR tax status window.

I’ve decided to use Interactive Brokers (IBKR) for my global exposure and plan to shift fresh capital allocation toward US equities while managing my broader wealth planning in India.

Looking for recommendations on:

  1. US Equity Research: Reliable momentum/tactical research tools or screening frameworks suitable for managing US stocks on IST hours.
  2. RNOR Wealth Strategy: How returning NRIs balance US stock allocations alongside Indian fixed income/debt instruments during the tax-free foreign income window.
  3. IBKR Setup: Any operational best practices for maintaining an IBKR account smoothly post-move.

Appreciate any insights!

Seeking advice from established exporters: How did you scale buyer trust and manage quality claims for Spices, Coffee, Tea & Coconut?

Hi everyone,

I am building out an agricultural export operation focused on commodities including Spices (Black Pepper), Processed Coffee Powder, Tea (Leaf & Powder), and Coconut products.

While I have organized our legal basics (IEC, GST, APEDA/Spices Board/Tea Board registration, and supplier sourcing), I want to ensure our execution matches what international buyers expect from established trade partners.

For experienced merchant exporters and star export houses currently shipping these categories, I would love your guidance on a few critical operational questions:

  1. Quality & Sample Discrepancies: How do you handle cases where pre-shipment lab reports meet specifications (e.g., moisture levels, volatile oil contents), but the buyer raises quality claims upon arrival at the destination port? Do you use specific third-party inspection services (like SGS) for every LCL/FCL shipment?
  2. Building First-Time Buyer Trust: When reaching out to foreign importers, distributors, or roasters, what payment terms (e.g., LC at sight vs. Advance TT split) were most successful for you when starting out without a long track record?
  3. Freight Forwarding & CHA Handling: What are the most common pitfalls to watch out for when negotiating container ocean freight and customs clearance at port for perishable/agri-goods?
  4. Commodity-Specific Advice: Is there a specific product line among Spices, Coffee, Tea, or Coconut where beginners usually face the highest barrier to entry (due to compliance, shelf life, or price volatility)?

Any insights, lessons learned, or mistakes to avoid during the first few shipments would be greatly appreciated!

Feel free to reply here or DM me if you prefer to share advice privately. Thanks in advance!

[For Hire] [Remote] [India / Global] - Senior Backend & AI Systems Engineer (5 YOE, ex-FAANG) – Immediately Available

Hey everyone,

With return-to-office mandates continuing across tech, finding high-paying, remote engineering roles from India requires looking beyond typical local listings.

Having spent ~5 years in FAANG working across backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and AI platforms, I’ve tracked companies that actively support remote setups for engineers based in India—both via domestic entities (direct FTE) and global remote-first firms (via EOR/B2B contracts).

1. Global MNCs with Indian Entities (Direct FTE / Full Benefits)

  • Atlassian: Operates on the "Team Anywhere" model across India.
  • Akamai Technologies: Remote-friendly depending on the engineering org and infrastructure vertical.
  • Twilio: Regularly lists remote backend and communications API roles.
  • GitLab: Globally distributed pioneer; hires Indian engineers directly or via legal entities.
  • Automattic (WordPress): 100% distributed globally; hires across India for core software and infra.
  • Coinbase: Fully remote-first with an established Indian payroll entity.
  • ServiceNow / Elastic / MongoDB: Frequently post remote-eligible roles across India for mid-to-senior levels.

2. US / UK / EU Remote-First Companies (Hiring India via EOR or B2B Contract)

  • These pay either localized top-band INR salaries or USD/EUR/GBP contractor rates:
  • Canonical (UK): Fully distributed global engineering teams; hires across systems, Linux kernel, and cloud.
  • DuckDuckGo (US): Fully distributed worldwide; pays competitive global/regional bands.
  • Zapier (US): Remote-first software and AI automation engineering.
  • Supabase & PostHog: Open-source developer tooling companies hiring globally across engineering and devrel.
  • Kraken / Bitfinex: Distributed teams hiring senior backend and security engineers worldwide.

Quick note on my current transition: I recently concluded my previous FAANG stint in usa moved to indai and am currently looking for my next senior backend / distributed systems / AI infra opportunity (immediately available).

If you work at any of these companies (or similar remote-first engineering teams) and are open to reviewing my profile or sharing team openings, feel free to reach out via DM—I'd be glad to share my resume and relevant Job IDs directly.

Let's expand this list: If your company is hiring remotely from India right now, drop the team and work setup below.
