Damaged Passport Replacement Timeline/Troubles

Hi all,

Here's a timeline of events of my current situation replacing a damaged passport. I am travelling on September 6, so there's still a bit of time but I am starting to get a tad stressed:

  1. Applied in person at a Service Canada office (not a passport service location) on July 6, provided renewal form and form PPTC203 for the damaged passport. Reference # started working in the tracker the next day.
  2. Application was processing for the 20 business days; I called on August 5 for a status update, and was told not to worry.
  3. The next day, August 6, I received a call informing me a signature was missing on one of the pages of the PPTC203 form. I re-printed, re-signed and emailed the form to them within an hour of this call.
  4. Yesterday, August 12, I called again to ensure the forms were received and all was in order. I was told they were received and that, since I had to re-submit the form, we were back at square 1 with the 20 business day service standard. However, the agent on the phone told me to call back if I have not received the passport by August 26 and they will explore transferring the file to my nearest passport office.

My questions are:

  1. Does anyone have any recent experience with similar situations and have any idea what an approximate timeline is these days?
  2. Should worst come to worst and I do have to transfer it to my closest passport office, am I able to designate someone to pick up the passport at this office for me? I ask this because the closest passport office to me is in St. John's...that's a 10 hour drive away from where I reside, but I have family travelling to the city around that time and would get them to pick it up for me.

Thank you for any insight you may have :)
